It's a greatly scaled down version of the real world. So you'll see key landmarks and sights you'll remember from your drives on these roads, but it'll be much shorter. For example, I would drive from Salt Lake City to Denver in American Truck Simulator and it would take about 30 minutes (normally 7-8 hours).
You start as a one-person operation but there's a mild sim aspect of running a trucking company. You hire people to run trucks as you earn enough money to buy more trucks. Driving a truck can have a fairly realistic handling and acceleration/deceleration if you want it. You need to stop for fuel and rest as you'd expect despite the compressed nature of the world. Some deliveries have tighter timelines and don't leave you much room for making routing errors, and sometimes you'll be on the verge of passing out from lack of sleep that can make you lose control of the truck for a few seconds. The main challenge comes from the end point of a delivery, maneuvering your truck in a parking lot or delivery area accurately and without damaging the truck or trailer.
I find the game to be really chill and relaxing, and it's fun just seeing the sights as you drive around either America or Europe.

There's a flying sim that my dad loves that's much the same. He's spent hours 'flying' everything from a Cessna to 747's. He has no interest in becoming a pilot (he doesn't want to 'get paid for a more realistic version') but he just likes to 'fly'.

Yeah, I can earn Mbappe's salary if I just put on some boots and a white jersey.

Microsoft Flight Simulator...one of the longest running and most popular video game franchises of all time. Also the longest running Microsoft application as it pre-dates windows.

It's more of a business sim with driving really.
But also trucking is ruined in recent years. Spend $10000 to get a license to earn less than $30/hr? I'll stick with the game

Wait until you guys try the Power Wash Simulators. Now there's some realism I can relate to.

Just did the Spider Lily side mission in Ghost of Yotei; loved it. The reward armour itself is nothing special, but the vibe of the mission itself is very cool and creepy. I'm glad I randomly did it on Halloween, very fitting.

After YouTube feeding me a bunch of shorts for it I took a look at the game Dispatch. It's kind of like the Telltale games and also has a hero dispatcher management minigame in it.
I've never played those kinds of games but I'm finding Dispatch to be a lot more engaging than I'd expected.
Story is pretty corny so far but still enjoy it.

So far I'm really enjoying this. Definitely an improvement over the first game.

I'm trying it on xbox but it kind of feels like Fallout 4 with pretty much the same graphics and bethesda feel. Which isn't 'great' seeing as it's 2025 now. Maybe I'll give it more time

The inspiration of the game is supposedly from Fallout, Futurama, and Firefly so feeling like Fallout is by design. The graphics are textbook Unreal Engine 5 and look pretty sharp on Series X.

Finished Ghost of Yotei today and absolutely loved it. Tsushima had a better story IMO, but Yotei has better gameplay and a better open world. It's a safe sequel, but extremely well done. Easy GOTY for me personally (beating out Death Stranding 2), unless Silksong completely blows me away.

I just beat it on Sunday (platinumed it). Really good, fantastic open world. Tsushima felt repetitive for the platinum (49 Inari Shrines!), but this one was much more enjoyable to do. Agreed that Tsushima has a better story, this was a pretty straightforward revenge plot, but still enjoyable. Absolutely gorgeous on the PS5 pro/oled setup.

I was a day one release gamer who got hosed with a crappy release. Upgraded to my XSX a few years later and it played great. Then halfway through my quest, that big update came along that changed everything for the better. Then when I finished the game, I got my new QLED TV a week later, so I never played it in full visual or audio quality. Looks like I am due to give this a proper playthrough again, along with the expansion.
