Great player and sad to see this will be his last year. Clearly the Kings will be big game hunting but the question is if McDavid will want to go to LA as it seems of late that it's not a desired location for some players and will also come down to if he views them as a contender or not. I think their roster is deep enough that he could certainly get them over the hump of beating the Oilers. The timeline doesn't work but I wonder if Andersson would change his mind about the Kings if they had McDavid.

For a player like McDavid there could be huge marketing opportunities in LA similar to Gretzky.

Not many players get to play their entire career with one team. Add in that he won a couple of cups there and that's a pretty rare feat now. If not for some guy named Crosby he would be the top player from his draft.

If his retirement also end up with letting the Kings lure in McDavid...he becomes legendary.

Yeah, McDufus makes about $5m/yr in endorsements playing in friken Edmonton, even with his personality of a snail I would imagine he would double that in LA or any other large market.

I have read that the greater part of the money Crosby makes in endorsements comes from Canadian companies. The big American public doesn't care about hockey one way or the other, and a hockey player's endorsement isn't worth much. L.A. especially has so many A-list celebrities that a hockey player, who ranks somewhere around the E or F list in California, would have a tough time getting any lucrative endorsements at all.

Yeah, endorsement deals are usually either small time local deals with companies like car dealers, or big national deals (mostly in Canada) where it doesn't really matter which team you play for.
