After the /Westerns subreddit brought up The Sisters Brothers (which I saw in theatres in 2018) I decided to forgo its availability on Plex with its endless ads and rent it for a re-watch.

This is a film that probably slipped under the radars of most moviegoers as I've never really seen it discussed. Starring John C Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riz Ahmed, and based off the book by Canadian author Patrick deWitt. Small cameos by Carol Kane and Rutger Hauer (in his last accredited role).

I loved it and still do. If you get the chance you may want to add this to a watchlist.

Soderbergh directed, and this is well before Ocean's 11, but has that kind of vibe. A very strong cast with some fun performances. The chemistry between Clooney and Lopez is really strong.

Just re-watched Out of Sight recently as well - it was great.

You know what? I've seen it. It didn't leave a huge impression on me though. Maybe a rewatch is in order.

Went to see "The Long Walk" this afternoon. If you enjoyed the Richard Bachman story you will certainly like this movie.
Basically a story about a walking contest, known as "The Long Walk", where Teenage participants known as "Walkers" must maintain a speed of at least 3 mph (5 km/h) or risk execution if they slow down. Last man walking wins.
Loved it, a solid 8/10

/edit. Cooper Hoffman (son of Philip Seymour Hoffman) and David Jonsson (Alien Romulus) were excellent.

One of the best horror movies in awhile for me- had the creep factor, a few jump scare moments, a few 'oh s**t, did that just happen' absolutely bizarre moments to the point of dark comedy.... a few skin crawling scenes.
Unfortunately that night I was so psyched about watching it that I had a few too many drinks and forgot the last 20 min (facepalm). I had to re-watch the last half the night after.....

Excellent book as well . My friend lent me the book and loved it so I watched the movie- good as well. Although I still have just a bit of trouble taking John C Reilly seriously in anything...

The chemistry between Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly is terrific. They don’t oversell it, it just simmers. You believe these two characters have been annoying the #### out of each other for decades, and that’s hard to fake.

Same situation. I think they did well in casting him as Eli, since we're supposed to see the story through his eyes and he's the most sympathetic and broadly relatable character in the film.

Apart from Dewey Cox, this is probably my favorite role he's played. What a drastic contrast.

My boy and I really enjoyed Friendship. Despite being kind of a black comedy it's straight up one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time. A24 delivers once again.

When I first heard that a new Naked Gun movie was coming out I had zero expectations of anything other than a garbage rehash. Instead it's easily one of the best decades later sequels to ever be made, they completely nailed the tone of the originals without resorting to lazy callbacks or rehashing jokes. I had to stop and rewind several times because I was laughing too hard to catch the next gag. And Liam Neeson was the perfect choice to carry on the Drebin name, he's so good at playing the goofiest #### imaginable perfectly straight. Pam Anderson was a nice surprise too, she has some legit comedy chops

Richard Bachman LOL

You know it’s Stephen King, right? He gave it away for me when he used “Busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest” under different names.

His short stories (Stand By Me, Shawshank) seem to make the best movies. With apologies to Kathy Bates Acadamy Award in Misery.

Yeah, to some degree. While Carrie, The Shining, Christine, Cujo, Firestarter, Misery, Pet Semetary are all classics. His ones under the Bachman pseudonym are great. The Running Man was something else. Maybe because they’re short stories or shorter books, directors and writers have a bit room to make improvements.

The Long Walk was gripping from start to finish.

It was a good movie experience that hit its emotional notes.

While it's an adaptation, the premise was pretty original and that provided a lot more intrigue than you get from your typical recycled movie plots nowadays.

Mark Hamill's performance was a bit cartoonish (not sure if intentional) but the film was strong enough to make it irrelevant.

it did great job of illustrating how people will shed their differences when they're put through an increasingly desperate situation.

In the vein of "I can't believe you haven't seen that movie!", finally watched Dead Poet's Society last night. Great movie and really makes you realize how wonderful an actor Robin Williams was.

Next up Good Will Hunting.
