The guy is/was a piece of **** who had no problem laughing at violence committed against people he disagreed with, so it's hard to feel too much sympathy. But it's totally senseless. Some other right wing grifter will just take his place and the federal government will just use it as a pretext for further erosion of rights (not that they wouldn't have found some other excuse).

That said, I have been a bit surprised at how cavalierly a lot of people on the far right treat their own safety as the US marches towards fascism. With that many guns in the country, it doesn't take a lot for a lone wolf to kill a prominent figure, yet they seem to be operating on the assumption that no one's going to react violently to what's happening.

I saw a couple angles of videos. There is no way he could have survived that. I'm willing to bet he was dead before he hit the ground. That was a bit much to watch...

In a normal functioning democracy this is absolutely not the answer. This is what happens when you invite chaos and ignore the rule of law leaving acts of desperation as the only option some people see that they have. It's called "consequences" and I think the US is just getting started down this road. What are they gonna do, confiscate all the guns? It's all ####ed.
