Are you talking about a debit mastercard? Because if so, that’s not how it works. It’s just a debit card you can use in places that only accept credit cards. It’s still just a debit card with no access to your credit.

Hmm, thanks. I still have no intention of using the card because I misunderstood the wording in the introductory letter.

Anyone know what that is?

Could it just be a custom made one? Something they aren't supposed to use but they aren't aware?
I was following someone last week that I'm sure had a custom made plate, had a newer number but everything about it was otherwise wrong.

Have seen, online at least, the plates that Sovereign Citizens use. Like they were made in a remedial kindergarten class.

Heritage Day is not a stat holiday in Alberta, can a business close for the day and tell its salaried employees they have two options, take a holiday day or take an unpaid day off?

If they are salary does it matter? They're going to get paid the same regardless. Or am I misunderstanding?
Hourly employees may be a different story.

She is a salaried employee, HR asked her if she wanted to use a vacation day to cover that day or take an unpaid day off. I’m not sure what an unpaid day off would look like on salary, maybe 9/10ths of your regular two week pay?
Maybe it’s because she was on vacation Thursday, Friday and Tuesday around the long weekend. Seems pretty sketchy if there is a loophole and the company is trying to force her to “spend” an extra vacation day.

I'm not in HR or a lawyer but I found:
https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-general-holidays Says:
Optional general holidays
Employers can choose to recognize additional days as holidays. If an employer recognizes an additional holiday, all employment standards rules related to holiday pay apply to these additional holidays.
Employees may ask their employer if they recognize any additional holidays.
Optional holidays can be any day an employer chooses to recognize. Some commonly recognized optional holidays in Alberta include: Heritage Day is listed here
So if all employment standards rules related to holiday pay apply, then this https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/0608...idays-2023.pdf says:
Not working on a general holiday
If an eligible employee does not work on a general holiday that is a regular day of work, the employee is entitled to their
average daily wage

Well, there would be room for several more small wives.

When we had our first child I bought a minivan for my wife. I'm not sure she has forgiven me yet and we got rid of it years ago.

Forgiven you? She should be thanking you! One of the most practical vehicles around!

I wouldn't buy a Minivan that comes with kids either.
