Marner and Ekblad are 2 good examples.

Teams will be spending, and guys might be available too. Sergachev was a good pick up for Utah.

I don't think they will sit around a do nothing this off season. Maybe they take one last crack at McKenna, but I can see them thinking they have the core to win now too.

I still think they are too early in their cycle to get any good UFAs without a cup. They might get out of the bottom ten though

That sucks for Couture. Toughing out a rebuild and having your play time get cut short by a couple of years as the team (hopefully) pulls up from it and starts winning again...
Good for the Sharks management as they can use his cap hit to reach the floor, if they are still rebuilding, or they can LTIR and ignore his cap hit if they start heading for the cap ceiling.

I expect that they will want to go UFA hunting again to get some proven talent to go with their army of prospects. Marner and Ekblad makes sense for the Sharks as they are loaded on C but could probably use a top line winger and definitely need to upgrade on D. I am not sure that it makes sense for the players though.

I believe it's against the rules to do that to an injured player.

Yeah, I think they used their one get out of jail free with Kane. Even with 2 years remaining, it will still be coming off before Celebrini needs his extension.

The Devils had a 49 point improvement (63pts to 112pts) from 2021/22 to 2022/23

That's a lot of dulcolax.

True, but they came back to earth the following year with 81 points, and this year they'll finish somewhere from 89 to 93. A jump like that is pretty hard to sustain.

100%, no argument from me, just thought it was interesting in the context of the claims that the Sharks jumping 45 points wouldnt be possible. Development isn't linear and even if they did it, they could easily regress the following year.

Solid player in his prime, and fairly or unfairly, I will mostly remember him as the guy who Datsyuk deked out of his jockstrap and caused to fall on his bottom. At least he was a great sport about it.
