Carney strikes me as so down-to-earth and genuine. You don’t see the typical politician on the defensive or trying to give the “right” answer that you’d normally see in these types of interviews. Frankly we’re lucky to have him as a candidate - I really hope Canada makes the right choice.

I’m fairly confident that most folks who say Canada is broken have never been to a country that is actually broken.

We have our issues but most of them are a result of the influence of money in politics.

The question was rhetorical, but thanks for confirming.

I think an ability to show a little humanity is a good quality in a leader. Even Trump does it, although mostly in bizarre and disturbing ways. PP is just a robot spitting out his talking points and digs at his opposition.

It changes nothing for me, but Jagmeet Singh came off as a lot more down to earth and likeable than I would have ever imagined.

Jagmeet has always been great at stuff like this. He's just never really gotten comfortable with public-speaking and wasn't ruthless enough as a leader.

His best moment came when he confronted the freedom convoy idiots in front of parliament and they backed away like the pathetic cowards they are.

Only looking at this kind of aspect, Poilievre just strikes me as a dweeb. I could see Carney and Singh having a conversation or a beer. They'd be interesting guys to talk to. Carney is an actual hockey fan, and despite his terrible choice of teams, you could have a conversation with the guy. It's the same as Stephen Harper. Like average guys who like sports, a conversation with them might be interesting. Can you imagine that with Poilievre though? I just imagine he'd be sniveling about everyone being too woke, or freedom, or whatever, and I'd just want to chug that beer and hit the road.

You give him more credit than I do. I think he'd just keep saying the same 20 slogans over and over again.

PP seems like the type of guy that if he was getting a handjob while drinking a beer, would complain the beer was too warm and the hand too cold

Fair warning: I'm totally going to steal that expression.

As soon as those same family members get out and hang out with friends and family and travel and whatever else, they're all smiles, having a great time, life is great. As soon as they watch whatever they do on TV and go on their phones everything is terrible again.

Most of the time it's a good idea to put your phone down or close your laptop and just get out and live life. Canada is not perfect by any means, but it is not broken. If we can do some things better, let's do it. But overall Canada is an awesome country filled with awesome people. We are extremely lucky to live here. You don't need to look at our country as negatively as you can, life is too short.
The "Canada is broken" mantra is even sillier when it comes from people who live in Alberta (and especially people who live in Calgary). Alberta is the wealthiest province in Canada, with the highest incomes and a reasonable cost of living. Calgary has, over the past fifty years, grown from a two horse prairie stop-over to an incredibly wealthy, sophisticated and diverse metropolis (that happens to be an hour away from some of the most beautiful places in the entire world).

You unquestionably live in one of the best jurisdictions that a human being has ever lived in the entire history of humanity.

NOTE: obviously I'm not trying to shut down legitimate discussion about how we can improve this country. That is absolutely fair (and vital). I'm just sick of the "Canada is broken" nonsense.

I don't think you give him/his handlers enough credit. The same folks that convinced him to ditch the glasses, and undo the top button on his shirt would come up with some slogans for his beer date.

PP Enters the room: I'm "Here for Beer" (Promptly orders a Smirnoff Ice)

Looks at the menu: Time to "Peruse these Menus!". (Orders appetizers without asking what you would like)

Food shows up: Let's "Attack these snacks!" (you decline to eat because he ordered nachos with extra cilantro, and you think cilantro tastes like soap....PP calls you "Woke")

Bill shows up: Let's "Split this chit" (PP had 4 Smirnoff Ice's, and all the nachos, you had a beer, he insists you split 50/50)

You were allowed to ask only 4 questions over the course of the date, with no follow ups allowed.
He answered all 4 questions by saying your question was flawed, and proceeded to blame the cilantro on Justin Trudeau, he also kept taking a bite out of an apple while answering....you do not know where he got the apple.

Only half joking, but I honestly can see PP would somehow pivot all his responses to how the woke Libs ruined everything, from people's choice in music to how kids grow up these days.

Plus, guy has a personality of a robot. It'd be similar to how Vance had that cringey interaction with the donut shop. He's got such a bad and awkward vibe to him. Like he's some alien being in a human suit trying to act empathetic even though he has none.
