I've heard they will wear the third kit from last year in a few games this year as well.

Are there plans for a 3rd kit this year?
Agree on all of this, and can overlook the stripes being missing on the back. But that tramp stamp - good lord that’s obnoxious. The rest of it is quite nice though.

Any rumblings of new signings? We look at least one centre back light still and the season is almost here.

I think we are actually two centre backs light. Have heard from a few folks Kobza broke his leg and is out until June.

So to summarize, sign a damn centre back!

That would be rough, and would likely put Field or Kamdem at CB on opening day.

CPL will be making an announcement in Quebec City this week.

Speculation is that this is an expansion announcement. I would put my money on a "CPL on Tour" game instead.

My money is for sure on a show game similar to in Kelowna last year. However, the fact that they're doing it in Quebec City has so many overtones that something is likely close on the horizon.

Quebec City, with a proper stadium, would be amazing. I can't see the stadium at Université Laval being a long-term solution.

Since the season starts this weekend I suspect it’s not an expansion sadly. I feel they’d want more than a season to get things going… but still hope this is more than an On Tour game.

Hopefully it’s a game and an announcement for an expansion.

Yeah the on tour games are neat, but not worth the hype the league tries to put behind it. An expansion franchise in Quebec city would be incredible. I could easily see them having the best atmosphere in CPL.

Noonan: The CPL is becoming a league of choice

https://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200...oice-1.2279994

A pretty interesting listen. Mark Noonan talks about the league becoming a place players want to play/ getting exposure around the world, expansion, the importance of Quebec, the current state of Kelowna, scheduling, etc. It's 21 minutes, but worth it if you've got the time.

Spoiler!

While scrolling YouTube before bed last night, I stumbled onto the Baller League broadcast and saw a familiar face. It was the only highlight. Disappointingly, the Baller League doesn't look as well executed as the Kings League.

The Domestic Player Designation change I think is fabulous. It allows teams to be "rewarded" for loyalty and bring in more international players if they so choose, which raises the quality of the league and translates to better Canadian players in the future. Great move

Cavs free up two international slots with Field and Warschewski now counting as domestics

Yes that is a great rule. Also the cap went up a little bit to $1,282,000.

Sounds like he is hoping to return end of May/start of June. Admittedly my source is a friend that lives near him but they've seen him in a walking boot and asked him? So I assume it's somewhat legit.

I too am curious about the CB room and what they're going to do behind Montgomery and Kobza. Field probably slots in as the third CB and we could potentially see Kamdem like someone in here suggested earlier (sorry can't remember who). That means three lefties in that group and potentially playing two left footers at CB which is an interesting dynamic as left footers typically don't play on the right because there's fewer of them (though this happened when Klomp was suspended last season, pretty sure it was Montgomery and Field as the pairing). Can Aird play CB? Doesn't seem like a natural fit for his skills but if he could slide over then Harms or Wahling can play at fullback

I had figured Trafford would see some time in the backline but with him gone there doesn't seem to be a natural fit in the midfield for someone to drop back a line when needed - with the caveat that Shome could play anywhere on the pitch and excel at it.

I enjoyed him telling the radio guy to layer up and stop whining about the weather

Right before the same radio guy asks about going to a winter schedule if MLS ever does.

Artificial pitches should always get the earliest of the April games. Whining to the commissioner about it made him sound simple and out of touch.

Good interview though. Commish seems to paint a decent picture of things at the moment.

I loved that. First the DJ complained that Ottawa has to play games in early April when it's cold, then they asked if CPL would move to a winter calendar like MLS.

I would guess Kamdem fills in at CB while Gheriasemncov is at LB to start. When I was chatting to Tommy in January he mentioned Zator was out of contract in June, so I imagine he is a target given that and the fact that he just had a kid.

Cavalry have signed Michael Balidsimo for 2025 with an option for 2026. Was with San Jose Earthquakes the last two years and Vancouver Whitecaps from 2018-2022 before then.

Great get IMO, and the perfect replacement for Charlie Trafford. Now we just need that pesky replacement for Klomp.
