Farabee might need an offseason as he’s not doing much for this team at the moment. 1 point and 10 shots on goal in 9 games.

Hopefully they find their way more before the end of the season. If not, hopefully a full training camp together with the team makes a difference next season.

I think Frost was the guy they wanted and they had to take Farabee’s contract to get him.

Both of them have gone cold. Hopefully Frost can start adding some offense at some point

Frost has been around it even as the entire team has dried up. Im not too worried about Frost. But I also think there's more to give and that's going to take time like others have said. Shaking off Torts might take a while.

Agreed. Farabee is just bad. Frost has value.

They must have believed Farabee could play and contribute. Given his history, he is better than a salary dump but he’s definitely going to have to play better than this.

Cant play run and gun hockey with this group
BUT
there has to be something better than 1-2-2 or 1-1-3 that we have been seeing.
This is on the coaches and staff.
low event is one thing, no event is another.
cannot simply sit back wait for mistakes and pray.
Sucking all the life out of the game not only for the fans but for the players as well.
Have you heard anyone talk about the "relentless forecheck" since November?
I honestly did not think they would be fighting for a playoff spot but i also thought there might be some sort of entertainment. When was last time the flames were down by 2 in a game (even in the first) and you thought they had a chance at a comeback?

I thought Farabee last night had a decent game defensively. Just needs to bury his chances, he’s just got stone cold hands right now. I think on the same lines as those that have said it’ll take time to get him and Frost going. I’m OK with them having to go through their mental hurdles of a whole new system, new teammates, new everything. Hopefully they’re ready to go come next year. I think Frost’s got game. Farabee is still a huge wildcard.

And Frost is an RFA, so you can sign him for a while at a lower AAV considering he's not producing as much. Hopefully makes the contract a bargain when he gets his feet set.

Might need to overpay for his value today if the team wants to get any sort of term otherwise Frost likely seeks a 1-2 year deal to get to UFA and hope he can turn his game around.

Booo to your logic, I prefer wishful thinking.

I guess we are seeing why they went so cheap. However, there is still potential there. They are certainly young enough to turn it around, and it isn't like players have had difficulty adjusting to a new team before. They were also not doing well on their last team either before the trade.
I predict that Kuzmenko will out-score both Frost and Farabee and people (outside this fanbase) will conclude that Conroy lost the trade. Next season will be a different story when these players rebound. Hopefully they find a way to contribute a little more between now and then, but this was a long-term move anyway, not a short-term fix.

This trade was a trade that gave the Flames a chance to improve this year, but it is still a great move long term.
They added 2 players who are 25 and have 300 and 400 career games. It gives Conny options as he moves players out to have a young team with some young players who have lots of NHL experience.
It's a lot easier to move on from guys like Coleman/Backlund when you have replacements lined up on the team already.

Farabee had a career year last year and is 25. May not be worth 5.5M a year but could still be a decent player for us.

Flames don't even need a career year. He's a young player still and has scored 20 goals twice. A consistent 20 goals scorer would be awesome.
I really don't care about what the Flames gave up, since only the 2nd round pick had much value. But the team needs these two to be productive, consistent top 9 players for a few years.

Because NHL GMs are very short sighted sometimes.
This is a guy that just turned 25 last week, and he's averaged 19 goals and 42 points per 82 games over his career.
Judging his performance over a bad 30 or 40 game stretch is very short sighted.
With the salary cap going up if he can get to 20 goals and 40 points per 82 games consistently he would be worth $5M easily.

He's been disappointing but maybe let's not totally write him off after 10 games. Or even one bad season.
