Kuznetsov has grown a lot over the last few years. When he first broke in with the Heat I thought he looked slow and shaky. He hasn't gotten a whole lot faster but he's rock-solid now. Leads the Wranglers at +22.

This is short sighted. We don't even know what the rest of the return will be for the Flames.
Could be a lottery pick.

This is exactly the move I was hoping for. Excellent!
Have to think someone is on the way out/on waivers.

If you're assessing the guy as a 6-7 that's not really fair.
In the 7 games without Bahl he's a 41.7% defenseman.
In the previous 17 games before the Bahl injury he's a 55.1% guy.
I think in a sheltered role he's been great.

The only time Hanley has been a viable option this year is when he has been paired with Weegar, but that's not a surprise since he makes all of his d-partners significantly better.
Hanley has an xGF of 40% away from Weegar, so I don't see how he helps this team at all. He's a 33 year old pending UFA who quite frankly is nothing more than a #7 defensemen.

You mean the trade where we hold an unprotected 1st round pick? Still has the potential to be the best trade in Flames' history. But yeah, it really stings.

If Kuznetsov and Solovyov can settle in I wonder if you could get anything for Hanley at the deadline. 7th rounder for a team looking to add some depth for the playoffs? Or am I getting way too ahead of myself?

Have to think 2 Dmen are on the way out somehow. Barrie and Miromanov are the logical choices.
Hoping this isn't an Andersson injury, he took a shot off the hand in the 3rd period vs. USA. He still played afterwards so hoping it was nothing.

Hanley sounds like a Treliving pickup. In that case he probably returns a 4th or a 5th.
hehe

Bahl is back? Thank goodness, the team missed him a ton. Kinda crazy how important of a piece he is to this team already.

Hehe, I see where you're coming from, and I don't mind a glass half full mentality, but Travis *fricken* Hamonic got an unprotected 1st + 2 x 2nds!
---
I'm glad the Flames went out and got themselves another Kuzy after the trade. The two best AHL D get a callup, hopefully they both make the most of it!

The Wranglers are in California this weekend so I'm guessing they'll bring a forward up before the Wranglers fly out unless something else is happening. Miromanov to forward.

I have been musing about putting the converted forward back at forward to see if there is anything there

Fair but that's overlooking the fact that Hanley has delivered 200 minutes of 56% hockey with Weegar, when Miromanov has been 47%, Anderson 47%, and Pachal 45% all with Weegar.
He's besting all but Jake Bean in that regard.

Me too. He does sometimes look like a forward filling in on D.
