No you can't . Not if you want eye candy without dlss. It can play 4k in some older games or portovers from ps5 but the 4090 isn't what I call a true 4k card. Hell I don't think a true 4k card will happen until the 7090 card.
For someone like me who only play AAA games and the occasional AA game yhe 4090 is easy to load up even if I turn settings down to high rt or even meduim rt in most games. The 4090 on average was 50% better than the 3090 I had at the same price . It's disappointing as I'd have no problem if that was the case to shell out that kind of money again. I would of even considered a 4080 if it was better than a 4090 like the 4000 series over the 3000 series. The 4000 series was on a new node so that's why we see uplifts.
I started the 4000 series with a 4070ti that was performing like the 3090 I sold . But they got stock at best buy 3 days later so I got the 4090 aswell.
I think I got extremely lucky in the silicone lottery tho. I can oc to 3150 on the core and a whopping 950mhz on the memory and still get 45 to 55 on water cooling but I'm running push/pull on 2 360mm 52mm thick rads. Even with all this the 4090 is not a true 4k card but does dabble that line into 4k curious.
