Ok I'll own this, I was taking my information from my 87 yr old dad.

This is on me.

I'm gonna dig in to it a bit more.

Right on, I applied for ours to be removed. Last I read, the City was less than cooperative.

I doubt anybody else in my family wants theirs, and my dad is not alive. If that's the case, I like the toilet idea--might help with the hard water, too!

They work for the city.

Sorry...

They "work" for the city. So anything that causes them to have to do something is going to get them uppity.

All the derails over the years and the piss bricks is the one you apologize for?

lol, I'm the opposite of a packrat/junk collector.

I'm only 48. Let me enjoy the brick for a few fkn years, guy.

A lot of tits in this thread. Heaven forbid we want a memento of a neat time in our city to which we have a personal connection. The Olympics ruled, dude. I was 12 when they were here. I was one of the kids dancing and making shapes and stuff in the Opening Ceremonies. Walking out into the field after two years of intense practicing was surreal. We were on TV for the world and in front of a packed stadium. I remember going to Olympic Plaza for the medal ceremonies a couple times. Saw the aerial skiers. Saw the speed skaters.

I get if it's a nothing to you, but holy crap STFU.

I'm a few years older than you and loved the Olympics as well. I had pins and glasses commemorating them along with the ubiquitous SunIce jacket. I got rid of them because I don't need mementos.

I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy your pissbrick. But I'm at my parents' house right now and I'm looking at all the crap I'm gonna have to deal with when I throw them in a home. Maybe your kids are better people than me.

I'm not a boomer dude. I don't have a house filled with BS. No trinkets. No garbage.

Will have it somewhere in my Canmore condo, though. It's going to fit the vibe, big time. I have old ski signs, old snowboards, and a couple mountain-y things related to the Olympics already, an old trunk my Grandpa had when he moved to Sask from Ontario, etc. It's decorated like a chalet. I'll clean this brick, laquer the #### out of it and use it as a door stop for the patio. It'll fit right in. They can toss it if they want, but it'll completely go with the aesthetic of the chalet (which they'll get on a silver platter one day).

I have no China cabinet. No attic filled with garbage. No old toys of mine or theirs. I run a tight ship.

Sounds like I'm ornery on this, but I hear you for sure. Both my parents are gone and I was the executor, so I've been through what you're talking about. Mine were minimalist like me, so it wasn't a pain, but I do have some relatives that I look at and feel pity for the junk their kids will have to deal with one day. Just want to be clear I'm not that guy hah.

The most interesting thing to do with that brick is swab it and send to one of those DNA testing places.

Also soak it for a few days in warm water and see what happens. Maybe make your drink challenge, like the severed toe cocktail.

Everyone is different.
I was 13 at the time of the Olympics. My family bought a brick. We've asked to retrieve it. My parents want it and when they pass, I will take it. I'm not a big memento person but i like ones where it leads to a good story or memory. And a brick doesn't take up much space.
