The Ducks have a ton of young blueline talent. A guy like Mintyukov has been out of the line up a lot, because there hasn't been room. He needs to play.

Fowler has been anchored with journeyman defensemen for a long time. I think a change of scenery will do him good.

Hopefully this sets the Blues up so they can trade Suter with salary retained to another team in the Central Division. Even better if they were to use Say Utah to broker the deal for double retention.

The cash they're going to save on name-bar costs alone makes this a win!

So Suter can be paid by 5 teams in one season? (Minnesota, Dallas, St Louis, Utah, Team x)?

Retaining 5 million to get a 2nd and including a 4th +Fowler
This should give Flames fans an idea of what cap space is actually worth in 2024/25 - and it’s not a lot compared to the past

Fowler has great trade protection. He submits a 4 team trade list. He has to waive his NTC to complete any trade with anyone outside those 4 teams, so it probably limited the return somewhat.

Biakabutuka - loved him in Quantum Leap and Enterprise.

Players are worth less when they get to pick which team they go to. We saw that when the Flames traded Iginla.

Scott perunovich was an absolute monster of a defenseman in the NCAA and the AHL. Thrived on big minutes and put up over ppg numbers. In the NHL he has averaged just over 10 minutes a night when he plays and was a healthy scratch last night.
If he gets put on waivers I'd give it a hard look.

They sent Matt Kessel down, so they're not urgent need of doing anything. Probably rotate Perunovich with PO Joseph. Sounds like Leddy will be out for while longer.

LOL - exactly how do they think they could take on Fowler's contract, even with $2.5M retained?

Obviously the Ducks cannot afford to purchase silver sticks for their players - times are tough

Pat Verbeek only has so much time to mine for Silver! Evenings and weekends only!

I want him to make the NHL just so Harnaryan has to try and pronounce that.
Worth it.

Isn't that a good enough reason? 4 teams from the same Division paying you to play for someone else would be a great achievement.

It would be great if Calgary could pry Perunovich out of St. Louis, I think he's a better puck mover than anybody we have on the back end other than Weegar or Andersson. His advanced stats are really good on both ends of the ice and their fans love him but they keep blocking him with washed up old turds like Ryan Suter, Leddy and Fowler, I think he'll be a 40-50 point a year dman with powerplay time somewhere else
