There's not much point in arguing as fans whether or not Gibson can still be good. Clearly, according to many reports, at least a few GMs do. Since they are the ones that make the trades, I doubt our arguments are going to sway them much.

I do think that's why Anaheim might be more open to a move now though.
The longer it goes that Gibson puts up around a .905, and Dostal is putting up a .924, the more GMs go "Hmm maybe it's not the team around Gibson that's pulling his numbers down a bit"

Sure, but there are always going to be GMs who think someone is better than what they've shown recently. And sometimes they're even right, especially when it comes to goaltending.

Plus they have 2 goalies under contract.

All well and good but I’m left wondering why would LeBrun even mention it? He doesn’t seem the type to just throw something like that out there publicly.
Perhaps the Oilers are considering a move in net. It might not be Gibson, though.
Didn’t mean to suggest you said Gibson was cooked. All I intended to say is that I don’t think he is. As LeBrun also said in his piece, Gibson is 31, not 37.

Right. But he's also played a big percentage of games every year (except last year, which is also a troubling sign - Lukas Dostal played almost the same, except with slightly better results). Dostal has taken over 1C this season and has a .924 behind the same team.
LeBrun mentions it because Oilers have to be mentioned in every column. And they supposedly are weak in goal, and Gibson would be their only option, really (Calgary's not sending them Vladar).

Age doesn't matter when you're cooked, you're cooked.
Do we expect Huberdeau to bounce back? He is 31 and on pace for 40 points.

TBF, a 31 year old goalie is often in their prime versus a 31 year old forward. Hellebuyck is 31. Vasilevsky is 30. Bob is 36. I'd acquire those guys.
Markstrom was 33 when he was in demand last year.

Put it in context though, he is near top of flames in points on a team where no one is currently projecting to put up big points.

I wouldn't bet on Gibson going back to earlier form, but goalies are voodoo.

He's tied with Kadri for the lead among forwards. 2 behind Rasmus for the overall lead. Crazy.

As the season has progressed 3 names continue to stand out to me as potential center targets...Cozens, Pinto, and Mercer.
There has been more than enough discussion about Cozens, but I wonder if the narrative around the other two has changed at all.
Mercer has had an okay start to the season (11 points in 21 games), but continues to not be used as a center for them and has been demoted from the top 6 and is playing 3rd line RW.
I've heard some rumours the relationship between player and team was a bit strained due to the offseason contract negotiation (player wanted a bigger top 6 role and didn't love being bridged) and wonder if 3rd line role starts to re-open that up a bit.
Pinto is playing 3rd line center for Ottawa right now and isn't getting regular powerplay time. Norris is healthy and has had a good start to the season (8 goals, 13 points in 18 games), Stutzle is a bonafide top line center, and there are rumors the Sens would like both Greig, and Ostapchuk to get more looks at center.
Pinto hasn't had a great start (4 points in 10 games) so maybe there is more openness to moving him now too with Norris, Greig, and Ostapchuk all in the mix in Ottawa.
(I remember there was some discussion about Norris as a cap dump due to his play / injuries in the offseason and too bad Flames didn't look at that.)

I would bet good money if he was on a team with skilled players that played an East/West system he would be at minimum a PPG player.

Wright I feel was always overrated, sadly his exceptional status I feel went to his head.
He was good in junior, but I don't think he dominated like the other exceptional status players.

He is only 20 though, if the price was right I would not be opposed to taking a shot at him.

Not wrong, but from what I was told previously the price Seattle wants is stupid high.
