1) A state can be won by as little as 1 vote, even if it's a state where millions upon millions of votes were cast. That is a statistical tie; the two candidates are for all intents and purposes supported equally in the state. And yet, all the electors go to the "winner" of that state. Voters on the "losing" side are therefore extremely disenfranchised.
2) The constitution says that every man and woman is born equal. A system that makes a vote in one state weigh more heavily than a vote in another state, is directly contradictory to that foundational principle.

Nvm. I was confusing voting at the state level and President.

Perfectly valid question though, what happens if the national vote tally is extremely close? This type of scenario seems pretty rare, as you have to go back to 2000 to find the last time the margin was within 1%. The time before that was 1968.
Not sure what would be best to do in that case. Do you still just give the winner the presidency, or would there be some other system that kicks in?

Map it out for me what the last step is in this situation.
You have a clear Harris win, then delayed certification that is clearly designed to undermine the votes in democrat states, then the house picks Trump. It goes to the courts and say the courts back Trump. Are the democrats going to willingly leave power under this scenario?

No, it’s actually quite mainstream speculation. Every major media outlet is speculating that this is ‘the secret’.

The US is such a silly country in a lot of ways. Which is not good considering it has the strongest military in the world and an ungodly arsenal of nuclear weapons.

Honestly just seems like you are over reacting and panicking here. Now you’re stressed because PA allows early voting by mail only?

What exactly is wrong with the winner of the popular vote winning?

Reading Canadians complaining about the electoral college is hilarious. MP Lisa Marie Barron won a seat in 2021 out in Nanaimo-Ladysmith with a whopping 28.8% of the vote.

People need to understand why the electoral college came about. It is the same reason that PEI, with a population of less than 180,000, have four MPs. Smaller states were worried that their voice would be drowned out by the big cities, and the same is true today. You think Trump and Harris would be making pit stops at donut shops in small town Wisconsin if the votes in New York, Chicago, and LA actually mattered?

TLDR version: I was caught off guard by the fact that PA does not have in-person early voting. Which seems weird considering it's the state that will very likely determine the election winner. With such importance on its result, you would think that all possible ways of voting early would be made available to voters.
Stressed about this election? Yes. I very much am.

They're not making stops in donut shops in rural Wyoming or Delaware either, so I don't see what the difference is...
Tell ya what, the people in my local community think their voices are being drowned out and ignored, so we're declaring ourselves a separate province in Canada and appointing ourselves 4 MPs.

Let me know when Lisa Marie Barron incites an insurrection, denies climate change, gives obscene tax cuts to the rich, or promises detention camps for undocumented immigrants...

I'm no Nostradamus but if the feds took out Trump after election night I'm certain that would entice a lot crazy #### from the MAGA crowd.

This is funny, there's a way you write that is oddly familiar. After this post, I'm almost certain that I know you very well in real life.
