This is the most rain I think I've seen on a single day in over a couple of decades in Vancouver. I'm not surprised there's flooding and washout- no chance the ground could absorb all of this.

More heavy rain in the forecast for tomorrow as well, although it looks like it might let up by Sunday evening.

A buddy in the upper lonsdale area has had his basement flood. City pipes backed up and are flowing up into the street. Sumps had no where to go so it all just dumped right back in. It's about 2 feet of water right now.

I wonder how this will effect voter turnout today and if it skews any particular areas or demographics (people depending on walking/transit to vote stations for example).
We'll find out soon...

The two potential deciding factors:

1) BCNDP have lots of voter days in lots of competitive races that the Conservatives just don't have. They have voter rolls and would have been using those to see who needed a ride, etc. Conservatives don't have those as they had very small campaigns. BC United had to destroy all their data so big advantage to BCNDP.

2) 28% of voters had already voted by mail, so whoever got their votes in first has a big advantage now. Lots and lots of potential new younger voters voting conservative (13 point advantage in the 35-55, 17 point swing for over 55)

All of my people are okay which is good, including those out in West Vancouver, White Rock and Burnaby which seems to be the places hit. My folks are out in Richmond and they didn't even know there was serious flooding when I called, catching them while they were at T&T because, "Dad's looking at the crabs to make for dinner tonight 'cause auntie x and uncle y are coming over tonight."

It's amazing how quickly these election results are coming in (currently tied between NDP and the Cons). Still early, but this is gonna be tight.

BC Conservatives absolutely have no business being this close (I think they lose out even though its 48 43 2 right now very early). They are IMO further to the right than Smith and the UCP and have no official affiliation to the CPC. Eby hasn't governed poorly as he is still holding and may have the popular vote, but the anger against policies such as the carbon tax and safer supply, and the blue surge across the country, they are just the benefactor of being at the right place at the right time while the BC United imploded in itself.

BC is going to put the Conservatives in power, just like y'all did in Alberta. And we did in Ontario.

48-43 NDP now with 78% of ballot boxes reporting, but there are enough super close districts that that could easily flip by the time all the votes are counted.

Surrey City Centre is 8 votes apart right now; was an exact tie when they last reported.
Crazy close.
