If the thrashers are interested I could see Atlanta putting in a request.

I keep telling you guys....

De-Commissioned Aircraft Carrier moored in International Waters.

Solves all of the problems all of the time.

Airport and Hockey Rink all in one!

Maybe the winds will take their fake 2004 championship banner.

A carrier still in commission would be better for growing the game outside of North America. War torn areas of the world are currently limited in options to spend their disposable income.

If it was a temporary emergency sitaution, I don't think the players would have any say. The options would be limited and I am sure they like getting paid to play hockey.

I suppose you could fire the guns between intermissions, but the constant landing of planes becomes a logistical issue.

If you need runway time you have to limit the schedule of the monkey knife fights.

I mean...who wouldn't pay money to see McDavid knife-fight a monkey during intermission?

The marketing possibilities are endless.

Put Corey Perry on a 'Dunk Tank' and sell tickets to throw the balls...only difference is that he falls into the Atlantic off the deck of an Aircraft Carrier and cant keep playing until (if) they rescue him. How much would people pay for that?

Not looking good for my parents' place north of Tampa. Thankfully they are in Calgary at the moment. Sounds like Helene already wiped out everything west of Hwy 19, the main road north from Tampa, and that made landfall way north near Tallahassee. Milton is going to be something else. I just hope the house stays up and the roof stays on.

If nothing else, that sounds like a future model project.

I absolutely disagree. For a temporary spot QC would be amazing for the Lightning players and family. Historic buildings, rabid Canadian fan base for hockey, and a change of season that is only temporary. I think players and their families would love that. It's like an extended vacation while you play. Now if it was permanent that's a whole different kettle of fish.

I don’t think QC merits a full time hockey team but it would be a nice stand-in and could change my mind if it works well.

Plus it’s very picturesque in the fall.

I don't think the NHL would want to give QC even a sliver of hope like that. They know if they are sellout the crying will never end.

My guess is they try to work something out in Atlanta.

Yes, Atlanta is the obvious choice.

QC is absolutely beautiful in October, but the logistics of moving the whole team over the border for a few weeks (and the insane tax implications) make it a total non-starter.

The province would bend over backwards to make it happen. It's a dream come true.

Plus the cost for players and their families having to purchase whole new wardrobes to suit the new climate. Winter tires, too!

How long do you think the repairs will take? And do you really think anyone with kids in school are going to move the their kids and enroll them in new schools for a month (or whatever)?

Hard to estimate a timeline for repairs considering the hurricane is still in the Gulf.

In any case, expecting families to relocate to Canada isn't realistic. Here's hoping the storm isn't as bad as it could be.

People seem to be losing track of the fact it would be very temporary. If the hypatherical happened, it might be an inconvenience at worst for the players. We aren't talking about something life altering.

Atlanta would make the most sense, but it also depends on arena availability. The NHL can't just say we want them to play there, so everyone else has to move over. Quebec has the Remparts playing in their arena, but I could see the city moving hell and earth to make some temporary concessions and compensation to make it happen. Would Atlanta do that? Quebec City would also keep them relatively close to most of their divisional teams.

I don't know, maybe some of the college or minor league arenas in the southeast could be a temporary home as well. That could be another option.
