Parekh on being sent down:
Zayne Parekh, on 1st training camp
"When you play against such high calibre players and practice with pros, you see their habits and what they do daily ... you kind of understand how good these players are and how far away you are. I think I have a long way to go and I’m excited"
Love that attitude! Doesn't expect to be gifted a spot because he's a high pick. He sees the level of play he needs to get to and it's a challenge he's excited to take on.

Maybe it has been something in practice, or maybe the details weren't there in the last game.
Looking at the lines in the main group, I guess they wanted to try out some different line combos, and Zary was extraneous to trying those combos. I don't think it is an indication that they're unhappy with his play so far.
Parekh I think has a lot of work ahead of him . Not a bad thing he's just really raw and if you consider that on top of the crop of D men he was competing against for a spot on the opening day roster, it wasn't going to happen.
Still the best prospect, just needs another year.
Now we will see the rubber hit the road in terms of Grush and Brzustewicz.
If I were the guy handing out roster spots I'd make room for that pairing.
That's bad asset management IMO. They can be a decent pairing for the Wranglers, and both are waiver exempt. I'd rather see what we have in the waiver eligible guys, and potentially trade some of the depth D before the two get a callup.

I thought Parekh was going to make it a lot harder for the Flames to send him down. Not that he was bad, but I thought he would stand out more. Going back to the OHL was the best decision anyway.
-Give Brz, Grush & Poirier top minutes in the AHL and call up when possible.
-Need to make space in the next year for at least two more rookies in the D core (Brz, Grush)
-Look for a trade for Anderson this year, see if anyone wants Barrie at the TDL
