This doesn't look like a camera just happened to catch him 'being a leader', it looks very manufactured. It's been cut and edited.
It also isn't the first video attempting to show him as a leader, there have been several attempts. It just feels like there is a conscious plot to portray him in a certain light. It all just feels weird, and only increases the perceived awkwardness.
Didn't the description of the video literally say it was from an upcoming NHL Prime show (gag).
Look, I don't care about McDavid as a leader, or his sad hobo look. I'm enjoying for the moment that the Oilers are getting trashed in the preseason.
Yeah, you heard me.
I know its the preseason, but its the little things you know.
I'm still sticking to my guns that the Oilers are going to be the leagues biggest dissapointment this year, and they'll just miss the playoffs in the last week of the season.
Draisaitl with his new contract and huge money security, by the end of the year, he'll look more like Fat Albert then a pissy faced super store.
Connor will start playing for his new contract elsewhere, ignoring the coach, hogging the ice time, trying to play all the positions on the powerplay.
Nurse will look more like a $1.25 bargain bin broken action figure then a $9 million dollar plus NHL player.
Skinner will vanish over the wall in the middle of the night half way through the season, after the Oilers realize that getting rid of any good defensive presence up front has lead to a nervous twitchy faced mess in net. We will next see Skinner driving a cab in Mexico under the name of Boaty McBoatface, oh and he'll be a serial killer.
By Jan of this year the biggest question won't be, "will the Oilers win the cup?" or "Will they make the playoffs?" but "Can this fricken team add some cleaning staff to this arena the whole place smells like pee".
That is all.

Entitled country club that goes as far as the two guys will take them. Free agents flocking there to also ride McAgingLikeMilk's coattails to a cup inscription.
I think they truly won't GAF about putting in the work until about November. But this time hopefully they don't claw back into it and come up short.

So for the hell of it, I fired up NHL 2024 and started a new Franchise up. For those who don't know, it's the mode that lets you GM a team (trade, draft, sign, etc etc) for up to 25 years (you can get fired lol).
Before starting it I made some adjustments to the roster... Markstrom and Mangiapane to NJD and WSH... Kyl to COL... Mantha, Bahl, etc in... Also I released Dube (dropped him to the Free Agent pool). Although, as I type this out, I realize now that also means I don't have Dube's cap hit - which is kind of cheating...
Anyway, I'm manually simming each game one at a time, period by period... First game against the Oilers, who scores their second goal? Dube. Because of course EDM would be the team that signs him.

He is oddly one of the most under-rated players of all time.
Where does he stand? Top 5?
You've got Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux.
Comparisons across eras becomes hard, but do you put him at #4? I might.
He's won more cups than anyone in the Salary Cap Era right? He is 10th all time in points, soon to be 9th. He's won two Olympic golds in the period where it was the worlds most competitive tournament. He was the face of the league in its period of largest growth. He played in two era's the end of the clutch and grab head shot era, and this new skill based era, and dominated in both.
Odds are he has 4 seasons left in him, another cup, another gold medal isn't totally out of the question he may wind up in the top 5 points all time. I'd say he is top 4 without a doubt. By the time he is done he may be the 2nd greatest ever.

McDavid is participating in the same category as Hull, Bossy Ovechkin and Mathews. Who which were the deadliest offensive talents.
Mcavi is currently 3rd all time in ppg ( crosby is 8th), but he will need some championships before he can enter the greatest of all time debates. Olympics or Otherwise. Moreover, we will need to see how he does after the age of 30. Lots of players rack up points in their prime 23-28. but what they do after is often their legacy. Well that and championships.
