The league really couldn't wait go get the Oilers an opponent on a back to back with travel.

That's the Oilers' third game of the season, and second where they're playing a team that played the night before.

At least it's a back-to-back for them as well, but they don't have to travel. Which raises another question, are the Oilers the only team that consistently plays back-to-back home games? The only times I can ever remember the Flames playing back-to-backs at home were during the lockout or COVID seasons when they ran a compressed schedule.

The only thing that was surprising about that was the fact that the Oilers were also on a second half of a back to back.

I was expecting for sure that they would have been sitting and waiting for a couple days in advance of that game.

Wonder if Huska is giving Zary a bit of a wake up call putting him with the AHL group. Still gotta earn that spot.

The schedule makers and NHL are completely against the Calgary Flames and these things are done purposefully.

Why?

He put in the work over the summer and had a good game vs Edmonton.

We aren't seeing practices but I havent seen how he's done anything in games to warrant that kind of prodding from the coaches.

I feel like both Pelletier and Coronato were both in a similar group to start camp too and we saw how well that motivation tool worked for them, so I'm guessing this is the same sort of thing maybe, admitting fully I haven't watched any of the games and have no idea how Zary has actually looked so far.

Maybe it has been something in practice, or maybe the details weren't there in the last game.

Parekh I think has a lot of work ahead of him . Not a bad thing he's just really raw and if you consider that on top of the crop of D men he was competing against for a spot on the opening day roster, it wasn't going to happen.

Still the best prospect, just needs another year.

Now we will see the rubber hit the road in terms of Grush and Brzustewicz.

If I were the guy handing out roster spots I'd make room for that pairing.

Parekh is a project. He's going to take time.

He's not a #1 draft pick or anything, he's not a #6 draft pick - he's a #9 pick. He's a project that needs development time. Patience for Parekh.

Parekh on being sent down:
Zayne Parekh, on 1st training camp
