I hope they also ignore the boil water orders that are inevitably coming and all get dysentery.

And choose to only use homeopathic remedies so they don't #### up the hospitals any more than they are...

I saw that the water use will be up now that kids are back to school.
My question is have these kids not been bathing, brushing, eating, drinking water during the summer.

Ppl on the Chestermere Facebook page are complaining that the water tastes different.
Of course it's the same people that think the WEF is having the water shortages staged to prepare us for their eventual takeover or something.
Just wait until you can taste the dysentery!

Don't forget the incredible racists posts last night.
I don't disagree the demographics have changed, and people over crowding the beach and generally not being clean, but its not just brown people.

My guess (hope?) is the actual required usage rate can be much higher than the target 25% reduction. Set that goal high and then we're okay even when we miss it sort of approach.
I do think there was probably a spike with people getting ready for school this week. Come back from whatever you were doing on the long weekend and then a bunch of laundry, baths, and showers were had.

I don't think my kids know that water is available outside of the YMCA swimming pool

Yeah. We were camping this weekend. So we used exactly zero water in the city on Friday evening/Saturday/Sunday. But when we came back everyone had a (shorter than normal) shower and we did a load of laundry. Over the 3 day period we used way less water than normal, but all of it was on Monday.

They'll also be the first and loudest to be outraged if we actually did run out, and demand to know why more wasn't done

Yeah, honestly my family doesnt use a lot of water and as such the restrictions really havent been overly onerous?
We dont water the lawn during restrictions, which...fine by me. I dont care.I have never washed my car on the driveway.
The kids aren't always at home so we dont do tons of laundry. I dont know how much we use per month but I'm guessing not a lot.
The restrictions really havent changed our lives much and seem to have been fairly easy to abide by.
I just think about it as a society. COVID restrictions were harsh in some respects and I think they had to be, but we did it. This? Within the context of 'Social Restrictions?' This is a laugh! This is a joke. No big deal.
Easy stuff. Use a little less water? No problem.

In the short term I agree that hopefully we don't end up with a boil water because that would suck.
But I sort of disagree with the plan of "if we lie to the populace about what's required and the consequences of their actions they're more likely to comply"
Telling everyone we will have boil water advisories the whole winter if we don't get to 450/day is important if it's true. But if the actual facts are "boil water for a month if we don't get to 475/day" then I'd prefer they say that.
The untruthful/exaggerated version probably works better in the short term, but this isn't a single round game. And when you lie to people you shouldn't be surprised if they don't trust you in the future.
And I think people not listening to the government is becoming a pretty big issue for all sorts of things, so I'd prefer that public trust not get eroded.

I think outside of Stampede, there are way less people in Calgary as more leave on vacation than are visiting the city.

Until the end of this month.

This phase of repair work is expected to be completed by the end of September. Indoor water reductions are expected to be eased as soon as the short-term repairs are complete and the feeder main is returned to service.
Information on easing outdoor water restrictions will be shared when available.

Yeah, I'm pretty much at the point I've tuned out of any communications from the City about water consumption. My consumption from mid-June to mid-July was a scant 3.000 m^3; average of 93.75 L/day. According to the City, the average residential consumption is 170 L/day; I'm already 45% below average. I am not "the problem".

The city has "played with the pipes" and they can now move 485ML of water per day, should help ease the supply crunch right now.
