It still makes sense to figure out how to get Huberdeau to be more productive than he has been. It at least makes a trade more possible.

I read that as pump and dump the FAs.
Everyone here is resigned to their fate re: Huby. Nice human and big disappointment. He’s here til the end, but it could have been worse (PLD).

Bean. Brannstrom. Boqvist. Who knows how they pan out. Maybe sign them. Maybe don't. But you most certainly don't pass on guys like them because Mews, Miro and Hunter B "might be good NHL players" one day.

Meh. I'd pass on Bean but mostly just to spite his Dad.

I think people are misinterpreting the statement from Salim. He very clearly says an "on-ice reunion" so it doesn't mean it's a former Flames player returning to the franchise, it means two players who have played together before will be reunited on-ice. That may be a former Flame or not.
My guess would be a Duclair/Huberdeau reunion.
A Kylington/Tanev reunion would be exciting.

You can sign players like that every year and we have no need for them this year.

Miro is a "player like that" is my point. And the other two aren't NHL players yet, may never be. Cart ahead of the horse here.

Do you think all three are here a year or two from now? I don’t.

No sense in signing players like that even if we didn't have Mews and Brzustewicz. They aren't the difference between making the playoffs or missing out.
Either the prospects work out, or not. If so, problem solved. If not, we will be getting a few more Parekh level prospects the next few years.

Well, the flames still need players to play next season. And I doubt Mew and Brustewicz are pencilled in to play 82 games.

Tanev shuns Toronto, Treliving wasted assets for his rights, he signs with Calgary and helps Kylington get his game back, then is traded at the deadline again to whoever he thinks is a legit contender.

Durzi is a free agent. I wouldn’t be upset if the Flames picked him up.

I'd personally prefer them over Pachal or Hanley. Those names I listed "had something" that was appealing. See if you can find it again. If you do, great. If you don't, well oh well. Pachal and Hanley are not good and they dont have a ceiling of any sort. Not even worth flipping for anything. That's all, want assets that "might" be worth something instead of the known entities that aren't.

I thought Pachal was fine last year, played the role pretty well. If you are talking about offering them league minimum, sure, no problem. But keep in mind it's teams that drafted even higher than us who are cutting them loose.

I get it. Just hoping to find something from nothing and Brannstrom just has more potential than some of what Flames currently have rostered.

PLD is better, the Kings got out of that contract.

Honest question, if Huberdeau scores 90 points next season - is there a market for him?
Reminds me of the Karlsson deal after his season in San Jose.
