I saw something about possibly being able to use the sportsnet + subscription to watch the draft, but haven't looked into it. Anyone know if that will work?

I'd be bummed if we drafted Yakemchuk.

I'd be cool with DAL's 2nd rounder getting spent on Eemil Vinni. There's a few mock drafts that have him right around that spot, and he seems to be the goalie to get.

Helenius would also be great!
He's underrated here but he has the highest hockey prospecting star probability of the guys who aren't named Demidov

Some chatter that the Kings are 50/50 on moving down from 21. Perhaps an opportunity for the Flames to move up from 28?

Yup. You can sign in through your TV provider or you can get a subscription directly to sportsnet.

I disagree. I am very weary of Finnish players because they always look good in Liga which to me is filled with filler adult players. I think the CHL and the USDP has much tougher matches. I look at all the hyped Fin players recently and what happened. Laine, great release, too lazy for NHL game, bust. Kappo Kakko, 2nd overall, bust. Jesse Puljujärvi, major bust. I don't mind the Flames taking a chance with later picks out of the first round on a guy like Kiviharju but stay away from spending a high pick on one. Too many red flags.

Do prospects in the USNDP have the same ability to sign with any team they want when they're done playing there?

Do you mean if they have the ability to go the non college route?
Yes. Matthew Tkachuk was in the USNDP and went to the London Knights.

I've been weary of Finnish players as well. 2016 had Laine and Puljujarvi. The year before had Rantanen at 10 and of course i'd love if Helenius turned into that, but I agree that there has been a bigger bust factor coming out of Liga, or at least it appears that way on the surface.

As a Finn, I completely understand this. But Helenius is so much different from these busts. He's like Anton Lundell with a better offensive upside. Because of his hockey IQ, I think that Helenius is safer pick than Catton/Sennecke. I see Elias Lindholm as the best comparable from the NHL. He's much smarter at his age than any of Laine/Puljujärvi/Kakko, the biggest reason all of those players are busts. But still, I'd rather take Iginla/Dickinson//Buium/Parekh with the 9th overall.
Kiviharju's even smarter, so if the Flames try to get some high end boom/bust talent with the later picks, I'm ok with Kiviharju if it happens with a 2nd/3rd rounder.

Thanks! So, could they also play in the NCAA after USNDP? I'm of the small group that hopes the Flames don't draft any players that play (or will play) in the NCAA...

So interesting to see multiple draft pick for draft pick trades (1st rounders too) to jostle for positioning ahead of the draft. I feel like you typically only see these types of trades happen when one of these picks is on the clock and you know who is avaialble

I am one of the biggest proponents of 'draft a C' on here, but for Demidov, I can wait until next year (when the C crop is better)
