Gross, just defended Babcock.
So he coached them to lose lol
point remains...if he was that great a coach surely he could have kept a bad roster out of dead last.

Brad Larsen is also a cup winner himself and 2x world junior gold, its not like he is a bum off the street who doesn't know the game. Like I said he was a highly regarded up and comer in the minors and then took a job with an NHL team with a bad roster and worse management. Guy hired Bednar in the AHL, if he went to Colorado instead his coaching record would be looking really good.

If I coached the Panthers and Maurice coached the Sharks I bet my team would finish with a better record...maybe I am a better coach! My Atom team did win the championship this year.

Great players don't make great coaches.

Anyways Babcock was coaching to finish last, the whole Leafs organization was tanking for Matthews. It was pretty clear.

And the Jackets weren't tanking? Their management sure was

Babcock was a #### coach, he won with stacked teams and sucked with anything less...nearly everyone who has ever met him hates him. Can't judge a coach by his record without looking at the roster is all I am saying.

Nothing really special about the hire. He mentioned he wasn't sure what his role would be yet.
I got a bit of a different impression from the interview. He was mentioning that he worked with the PP, the PK, the forwards, the defense, and was a HC before. He mentioned that he and Huska talked about a few different things that his role will entail, but he'll leave it to Huska to share the details of it.

Larsen has 26 years in pro hockey, and he's only 46 years old. He has 7 years as an NHL assistant, and 2 as a HC, to go along with 4 years of coaching in the AHL. He sounded pretty excited about developing younger players, and sharing his experience. He mentioned that the holes in the lineup created by all of our UFAs leaving create opportunities, and that's something he's pretty familiar with.

I'm not sure this is a great hire based on the results of the PP in his time as a coach in Columbus.

But I also wouldn't say it's a "budget hire"

He's probably a more proven and expensive head coach than Savard was even, he had 7 years as an assistant in CBJ, and then 2 years there as head coach. Not sure he'd be a cheap hire.

In a way, I think you're kinda proving how good a coach Babcock was. Literally coached his team to be worse than the Jackets when it mattered most for the franchise.

That right there earned his entire contract imo lol

If the goal of this hire is to have coach Larsen excel here like he did in Columbus than I for one am really looking forward to our draft pick next year.

Being an assistant to Torts. Is that good or bad?
