All heard before the game was the 16 game winning streak. Zero mention that in that stretch they only play something like 5 teams in the top half of the league. Absolutely clueless…

They have probably had the easiest path to the cup final in the history of the game. LA really not even a playoff team, Canucks 3rd string goalie and missing scoring leader in game 7, and Stars team who had to go 7 games with the two previous Cup champs and was just worn out.

The Oilers team is a house of cards, plain and simple.

Have to sure McDavid gets his rest since the travel is far…….. league is an embarrassment

No Roope for Dallas too.

It's because the American network wants it that way to not be on the same time as the NBA finals.

Bennett was dominant. He has learned to play on the edge and doesn't really take stupid penalties anymore. That one on Draisaitl was an obvious dive.

Diving is a big part of the Oilers game. Oiler fans don't even dispute it here.

This isn't an impartial national broadcast when it should be. And it really showed last night
Why would it be an impartial national broadcast? Most Canadians are very clearly more interested in one team over the other and cheering for that team. They absolutely can and should focus on the Canadian team.

Actually don’t agree that most Canadians are supporting the Oilers. The Oilers are not liked or respected for most part country wide.

I dunno. He stopped a few cross ice chances that were 5 star. And RNH on a breakaway.

Yeah don't underrate how disliked the Oilers are amongst other fanbases. A lot of Leafs fans hate them as there's been a bit of a rivalry since they drafted Matthews.

Based on my understanding of Canadians, the most important thing to most Canadian fans each year is that The Wrong Canadian team does not win.

Craig Simpson even said it without using the word

When he says it’s “a veteran move by Draisaitl, knowing when the contact will be coming,” he basically flat out admits that Draisaitl dove when Bennett gave him a little push

I've noticed this as well. True diehards of other Canadian teams I come across are mostly not on board. Seems to predominantly be casuals who are on the Grease bandwagon (people at work who don't normally talk sports, etc).

Those types are just cheering for a good time anyway, they don't actually care.

I think it's you guys that are underestimating the number of dire hard "rival" fans who hate the Oilers vs casual hockey fans in Canada that are fine cheering for the Oilers and have zero understanding of the nuances like diving, whining, lucking into star players ect.

Anecdotally, I'm shocked at how many in Calgary are cheering for or okay with the Oilers winning the Cup. Lots of people that I've gone to Flames games with as fans.

Barkov is an absolute beast. He’s so smart with and without the puck. McAvi and Pissy are gonna have a tough time trying to generate anything in this series while he’s on the ice. Great hockey player
Barkov had a defensive masterclass. He is really hard to play against and he almost never makes mistakes. He's been on another level the entire playoffs.

Yeah most people I know who aren't die hard fans are cheering for the Oilers.

It's sickening.

Florida's D coverage was pretty awful that game. Bob was very good. Felt like it would have been 5-2 if Florida had a Markstrom in net instead.

In 04 I would say 75% of Oilers fans wanted a flames cup. Only they old hard-core guys from the 80s were cheering for Tampa. Way easier to cheer for the rag-tag underdog flames than the whiny lottery snobs though.

It was obviously coming too. Bennett has just laid into him on the boards, circled back for seconds and Drai knew it. Embarrassing.
