Maybe for some other team.

He's a Chicago Blackhawk. Injured long term.

I would expect a lot more than Lundell and a 3rd in return for an extended Hanifin.

If the devils are not out of time already, they are likely only a game away from it. At this point, I think it’s doubtful they make the move before the trade deadline. With devils coaching staff admitting that Jack Hughes is playing through some injuries right now, I think they would start to realize this just is not their year. Would likely be a poor decision from them to make a big trade attempting to make the playoffs while they are 5 points out and their star centre is playing hurt.

Devils should be more motivated to make a goaltending acquisition. And then you ponder how stabilizing a guy like Tanev would be for them on the backend and it's hard not to see why they'd go after it.
I'm hopefull they can make something happen still. Plenty of time to the deadline. I just want them now so we can all move on and enjoy watching the rest of the season unfold.

Not that black and white. Could stop them from pursuing later if they're thinking more rationally and time isn't a factor.

This is the quietist this thread has been in a while. Thinking it’s because the wind has been taken out of the sails on the Markstrom to New Jersey stuff now that Jersey has waited so long to make the move that it might be too late. With that likely cooling off till the offseason, it will likely take the pressure of the TDL to get the suitors for Hanifin and Tanev to step up and pay the price.

I wonder if New Jersey puts Taffoli on the block nifty they're "out of it". At 4 million a year he's still pretty economical for the goals he can score.

Friedman has said more than once over the past few weeks, that Hanifin wants to play in the U.S.A. I don’t think 8 * 8 gets it done, because Hanifin’s heart is elsewhere.

Ya, my post early was kind of reflecting that feeling. With every win, I worry Conny is gonna push for a playoff spot, as opposed to making these moves to improve the team for the long run. But maybe it's the real calm before the storm. Maybe @Sec214 has some news?

Seems like the calm before the storm to me.
Flames play Tuesday, and then not again until Saturday. At home that entire time too.
I wouldn't be surprised if they make a move (or 2) in that three day break. Especially since being on the Florida trip for the week of the trade deadline is probably less than ideal in terms of roster adjustments.
My guess would be Conroy wants most of his work done before they leave for that trip on the 5th.

I don't think there's any way Conroy changes his path. I just think the Devils have slowed their roll a bit here

The Flames are in 11th, and they’re 5 points out with 1 game in hand on Nashville. The playoffs are highly unlikely, as well as the Flames have been playing recently. (Why did they have to lose to San Jose?)
I highly doubt Conroy is waffling on selling. His MO is to be patient until he gets what he wants.

The noise is going to increase this week. The Flames possess the top LH and top RH defenceman available. Conroy is the belle of the ball until those two move.

Getting a 1st rounder for Tanev will be a huge win for Conroy...I hope he can pull it off.

It is always quiet before the storm.
Flames still have the most attractive assets, and I like how quiet it has been on the trade front. Teams are always waiting for the best players first. Once the Flames make a couple of trades, it will set off a chain reaction, and we can watch the TSN panel or the Sportsnet panel looking very bored on deadline day again.
