Interesting phrasing.

I grew up in a similar environment to Kuzmenko, and I more than understand where he stands on the issue. Hockey is for everyone, that's not the issue. A person has the right to love whomever he/she wants and be open about it, or change his/her body however he/she wants.
|
I grew up in a small town in Central Alberta. One weekend while I was in Grade 11 (year 2001), the senior high-schoolers arranged a f**-hunt, where they loaded into 4 different trucks and spent 2 days cruising around and drinking looking for people in our town and surrounding communities who they suspected were gay. They had golf clubs, baseball bats, hockey sticks, and a whole lot of beer.
My best friend disappeared for a week with what she said was an illness. It wasn't until she came out to me 3 years after we graduated that I understood why she wasn't at school for 10 days.
Yes, it's different now, but let's not pretend that people like you, me, and Kuzmenko haven't had the opportunity to learn and grow despite our backgrounds.

I can't support the politics. For example, on an issue like letting children undergo gender transition treatment. Unfortunately, it all gets grouped into one, and if I'm against it, then I'm, supposedly, against the whole group.
|
For all those whinging about posters like me, here's where the trans children argument started.
Look, I don't think you're fundamentally against it, and I don't think you're a bigot, because I don't know you at all. I just don't think you really understand the issue if this is what's got you all hung-up. Since people continuously want to shout me down then I'm not going to say much more than gender-fluidity and reassignment is so far more gray than being for and against it, and it's something that is entirely between someone and their doctors.
Still excited about the trade, though. This is a big W for the Flames.

Fair point. The crystal ball is clearly pointing toward reload/retool on the fly philosophy.
If he keeps adding picks and getting younger. I am fine with that.
Will need to hit on an elite winger and elite center without a super high pick. So lets hope our scouting department can pull that off.

Nucks lose in the WCF, Flames get the 3rd rounder. Greasers and Vegas also out.
This is the timeline we need.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

OK, you don't like his attitude towards the LGBTQ part of society and think it's ok to ostracize him. If that is the case and you don't respect his cultural understanding and his stance are you not doing the exact same thing?

Last time I'll post on this, but 'as a gay' is a reference to the well known (amongst gays) 'Hi Gay' meme that's making fun of corporate pride month events.
https://www.tiktok.com/@megstalter/v...61361650093318
'My Kind' is a reference to the Christopher Isherwood novel 'Christopher and His Kind' about gay life in 1920s Berlin.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_and_His_Kind
But tell me again how to talk gay properly.

Just caught up. Half of this thread has turned political. Too bad, it's a fun trade to talk about.

I interpreted Milstein’s tweet as a subtle allusion to a trade request in that he was working with the Canucks management on the trade but I definitely could be wrong.
I don’t think he’s a long term Flame but I hope he can reignite his career for his own good and the good of the team. I hope he enjoys Calgary - it’s warmer than Yakutsk at least!

Oh my God, please stick to the title of the thread and stop bickering back and forth on thread non related topic. Most of us want to enjoy a great trade and want to discuss the trade not personal view. Thank you very much.

I'm not sure that there's anything political about being respectful and proud of all people. Is that political now?

This trade is far different from the Huberdeau one. One was a Hail Mary attempt to stay competitive after losing two stars and this one is clearly more future’s based which is what most of us have been asking for

I am sure Kuzmenko can replace Lindholm offense. He may even click with Huberdeau

I care more about their first being better than the 4th becoming a 3rd. I now want Vancouver to lose every game.
