What does the AI stuff have to do with the topic? Can people just stay on topic? Go make an "I have full conversations with an AI" thread about it or something.

It's just absurd to make such assumptions, repeatedly.

Fun fact: The Tapatalk app on my phone does not observe spoiler tags. It would have fried the damn thing if I had to scroll through all of that.

Something that's been on my mind, and I apologize if it was discussed in the 750+ posts I skimmed.... what's the legality of Hockey Canada buying off and shushing victims? Are we to expect more fallout at Hockey Canada past and present personnel? A lot of people had to be involved with this cover up, and simply getting fired or resigning hardly seems "enough".

To say "buying off" and "shushing" victims implies a one-sided, coercive effort to have something illegal happen, such as (e.g.) demanding that she provide untrue statements to the police. That's not what happened. The "settlement" is just a contract between consenting parties. One provides consideration (cash) and the other agrees not to pursue a civil lawsuit against that first party. It shouldn't relate at all to the criminal cases.

I think that ultimately depends on the victims' desire to pursue things further. This case could be a bell weather for more victims coming forward or scare them off from coming forward depending on the outcome and their overall appetite to revisit traumatic events in the public eye.

Although interesting point would be they are a not for profit organization so they were using funding that way and not disclosing it until after the fact to their funders, and only under duress when they were forced to. Such a dirty thing to do, so glad a small part of my kids minor hockey dues went to help protect pedophiles and gang rapists.

this has probably been mentioned already but in the lawsuit at least 2 of the 8 defendants were 1999 births. See at 0:43 of the clip linked below (clip only shows birth years of 5 out of 8):
https://youtu.be/zB0jK3Yg0ew?feature=shared
There were only three '99s on the 2018 team...one of them was playing in Europe but one of the other ones is currently playing on an AHL contract (he is an NHL free agent) for the unaffiliated Chicago Wolves.
Is it possible that one of the leaves announced this week (maybe...most likely the one citing mental health) isn't one of the five and that maybe it's another player?

Given the percentages, far more likely that the other 6 were not 99 births. And it's okay to say names - that it's COmtois playing in the AHL for the Wolves.

Nice to see Dusty Nickel is an option though.
