Well
I’ll have to watch the game on mute and listen to something else that’s less aggravating

I’m fully expecting the worst tonight, and the play-by-play and intermissions will be no doubt be unbearable and full of cringe. Therefore I will not be watching. Just gonna cross my fingers and hope for a Flames win.

It was the Heritage Classis game against the Flames that got the Oilers started on the their run.
And now it's going to be the Flames that end it.

Felt like in recent years, the obvious or more exciting option for a call up was often not made in place of a veteran fourth line guy. Take today’s call up. Instead of bringing up Coronato, they would have brought up a fourth line veteran AHL player and just moved someone up from the existing fourth line to fill Posposil’s spot. Or if they did bring up a young top six forward from the farm team, the coach would usually limit his minutes instead of giving him a real opportunity.

Today, we have an exciting young sniper coming in who is not only going to get top six minutes on a scoring line but also some powerplay opportunity. Also, we’re bringing in Klapka who has all kinds of upside and adds a different element to the fourth line with his size and skill. These guys are being given the best opportunity to succeed.

They might struggle. They might do great. Either way, at least we will get to see them given a proper chance to show what they can do.
 |
I mostly agree, and I like the youth movement, but even Sutter put young players in a position to succeed.

He put Ruzicka, then Dube with Toffoli and Lindholm
He put Pelletier with Huberdeau and Kadri
He put Kylington with Tanev
He put Duehr on the 4th line

Sutter gets a bad reputation because of how he answered the Pelletier question in the media, and because he didn't put Phillips/Valimaki/Mackey in the lineup. Well all 3 of those players are healthy scratches or in the AHL. Everytime a young player ran with an opportunity he was given more rope.

But, it goes the other way, too. Monster Truck also never calls Oilers games when they are National, and certainly never v. the Flames.

Didn't they lose three or four straight after the outdoor game?

*EDIT*
Yeah, I just checked: Four straight losses after the HC, and then 3-7 in their first ten games in November.

I have it slightly different.

I expect an early flames goal, then power plays to be 5-1 Oilers, including at least one 5 on 3. Oilers score on 3 of said PPs to go up 3-1.
Flames get two late PPs, one of which is abbreviated, so final PPs end 6-3 so as to appear closer.
Flames have one goal disallowed late which would have made it 3-2 because…reasons.

Yeah but Singh's Oiler cheerleading is only a tiny step down from Monster truck. Add Debrusk and Singh's idiotic pronunciation of Kadri and it is going to be absolutely nauseating.

And all the powerplays are ridiculous.

Like the Stick Lift Drop Stick slash.

The Step on Stick and Dive tripping.

The Pushed into the Goalie goalie interference.

The Hand on the Back of a Guy's Hip holding.

The Stick in the Air Parallel to the Player hooking.

For certain there will be the McDavid Holding the Stick but Being Held holding.
