4 games is harsh but not outside the reasonable amount of games. Scheifele got 4 games for his hit and that was in the playoffs (where each game is probably "worth more"). Who cares that Ras is suspended for 4 games six games into the season.
Not in todays NHL where head injuries are very serious and the number one concern to the leagues long term viability and largest financial risk from liability.
Honestly it was a dangerous play when the game was over. I was guessing 2 games but I have no issue such a stupid play got punished.
This is the closest example to a similar play I could think of - And it also got 4 games. And this game wasn't over and the play prevented a goal, and was in the playoffs
Tkachuk got a one game suspension for tapping a guy on the leg
In Florida he got 2 games for trying to stick a goalie in the eye after the whistle (3rd time offender)
not point in arguing with you since you aren't even a Flames fan anyway, you wouldn't understand
I'm just glad I don't give the league money anymore...hopefully Florida and Anaheim can keep that salary cap rising
I mean...GL debating me with this video evidence
LOL
We aren’t debating you are posting fantasy fiction and so am dealing in actual facts.
Again you can’t answer a single one if these questions:
Why does the league have a vendetta against a Calgary to begin with?
Why does everyone in the league go along with it?
Why does Murray Edwards allow it?
Why does Bettman want to punish one of his most trusted owners?
Why does Bettman want to go after an owner that just played hardball to get public funding for his arena?
These are all rational questions you can’t answer to justify your fantasy fiction you have built up in your head.
You posting suspensions you disagree is meaningless. Every fanbase complains about the suspensions their team gets. The NHL is terrible when it comes to suspensions it isn’t an Anti-Flame issue it is a league issue.

Explain how this in Calgary is a game and for his 3rd offence intentionally sticking the goalie in the eye after the whistle in Florida is only 2 games
there is no comparison to this suspension...many people have said it, Flames tax
and for the thousandth time its not just the Flames...its the franchises that won't give much pushback, unfortunately we have one
Call me a homer all you want, go look at the poll the vast majority thinks this is out of the ordinary...here we are setting the new standard in Calgary. Just happen to have a big showcase against the Oilers upcoming
a lot about the time and the game being out of reach yet Laine puts himself in a bad position to try and score a goal
but yeah Bettman was never changing this, like I said they kept is just right so he couldn't go to a third party and force them to show comparables (and lose)
Trying to score a goal is consistent with a hockey play and playing to the end.
Launching oneself into the head of an opponent in the dying seconds of a game is not a valid hockey move.

penalize the hit not the time then
time and score matters both ways or not at all...its fine, Laine can keep skating around like that and he will be back to his fortnight career in no time
Like always, I have no issue with them being harsh as long as it's applied consistently. But it won't be, I'm sure we'll see a much worse hit soon that gets a single game

Just don't hit people in the head. Don't go out of your way to leap into somebody's head with less than a second on the clock. Don't try to hurt people.

sure but you can't give one player a 5 minute major for tripping and give the next guy 2 mins
Not sure what that tap to the ankle has to do with Andersson getting suspended, but it led to this video... which is way more awesome.
In a million years, I'll never understand how we didn't do everything we could to build this team around Bennett and Tkachuk. Instead of, you know, burying one of them in the bottom six and telling the other one to completely change the way he plays.

The fact that the Flames face stiffer penalties from the league than many other teams
I mean you pretty much said it "tap to the leg" was a suspension lol

You seem to be ignoring the fact that Andersson was suspended for a dirty headshot in the dying seconds of a game Calgary was losing.
Your response is that a player who is winning in the dying seconds needs to be even more vigilant in being aware that someone may be head hunting him.

If I remember correctly there was more nuance to this suspension than just what's in this clip. Tkachuk was running around snowing, goalies creating a scrum after every whistle, taking jabs at players, and just generally being a dick game after game. The league told him to chill and he continued, this was the result, I remember his teammates not coming in to scrums at a certain point to defend him either. This was the league giving him a one game time out for being a determent to the enjoyment of the game.

so the only suspension in league history for such an incident, darn the luck again! I mean being a dick is a role in hockey and has been for 100 years.
He got suspended because the goon on the other team started a riot after getting tapped on the leg...this was back when Tkachuk was with the Flames and considered to be equal to goons like this guy and Kassian. Not the face of the league Tkachuk we see today.
He got two games for trying to take out a goalies eye in Florida lol
