Keep in mind these two guys have only surrendered 3 high danger goals against out of the 19 scored against us. They are letting in goals from areas they should generally be making saves from.

This begs the question...who's last?

Well #### appears not much has changed after all.

Meanwhile the Flames on keeping Wolf on the Wranglers: We're blessed to have three great goalies here

Unfortunately this team has already allowed over 8 more goals than expected at five on five through just six games. That's flat out ridiculous and no other team sniffs that total. If the goaltending doesn't start to show any signs of turning around in these next four games then Wolf needs to be called up. We can't keep waiting.
Goaltending won us the first game and lost us the last game. Aside from those 2 washing out, it hasn't been a determining factor in the other results.

I'm not saying it has been outstanding, but it hasn't overshadowed the on ice play enough to change where this team would be in the results so far.
If you're saying the record would be better with better goaltending, it probably wouldn't be.

…although, I have to believe that upper management/ownership had a big impact on those final 12 months. We all saw John Bean’s arrogance and love for this roster this past Summer.
John Bean shouldn't never be allowed near a microphone again. That was the most awkward/arrogant/out of touch press conference I've ever seen. And I saw the two tier fans presser.

Moneypuck has Vladar at -4.0 (close to above) but Markstrom at +1.1

Was an issue between NaturalStatTrick and Moneypuck last year too.

I wonder how much of those goals allowed above expected were on Vladar, because it certainly feels like markstrom has been improved.
They obviously wanted Vladar to prove his trade value... they just didn't want the trade value to be a bag of charcoal.

I think this goalie situation needs to end soon though. I don't think Vladar is the answer in Calgary and I don't think he's going to prove his worth to Calgary or any other team while he is in Calgary.

He should have been given a longer look on the top line than like 1 game. He is wasted on the 4th line.

Yeah there is some weird discrepancy with Markstrom between the two models.

I would agree that Markstrom has atleast made up for his poor five on five play with stellar play on the PK. That at the very least is encouraging.

They played a really good road trip up until yesterday and for whatever reason Huska felt it was time to blow it up and go to lines that pretty much sewered our season last year, and we got the same results.

Also Vladar was bad and was the backend. Huberdeau was bad, but really you can't blame him when Dube turns it over and he hasn't touched the puck the entire shift.
This team doesn't have shooting talent or natural chemistry.

Which I think leads to coaching panicking and over coaching in trying to generate goals.

When really they just need to stick with some lines, try to keep controlling play, and hope that eventually some chemistry is found.

Also the Flames need to get Wolf up here. Markstrom has been passable, but Vladar has been terrible. Time to give Wolf a go even if it means just waiving Vladar and losing him for nothing. His trade value is probably cratered at this point anyways.

Flames are 2-0-1 when they have a save percentage above .900 this season, and 1-3-0 when they have a save percentage below .900. They have a top 5 goaltending prospect, that is back to back AHL goalie of the year, time to give him a look.

Wings are absolutely rolling (2 points out of the Presidents trophy spot), and so is Columbus. There are 76 more games….

We need our 2nd and 3rd line centers to make meaningful impacts offensively. 0 goals and just 3 points combined won't cut it.

I don't see vladar as an option with the flames. Time to move on - regardless of what you can get for him or if he breaks out otherwise.

Vladar and his cap hit moving to make a spot for wolf alone would be worth it.

Waiver or a 6th in a trade, just get it done.

And it has to be mentally tough on him knowing he's the odd man out no matter what.

He was probably hoping it would be resolved in the summer so it wouldn't be a distraction.

I try to be as optimistic as possible but there are a few things that i'm starting to question.

1) Why was Markstron not playing last night. He's our supposed #1, he likes to play more games than not, so why wasn't he playing?
2) Chemistry, it is early but apart from L3 & L4, there seems to be a lack of chemistry in the top 6. Our two big contracts needs to get going and they just aren't yet. Heberdeau has been trying but it's just not turning into points. Kadri, what is there to say that hasn't already been said. He needs to get his act together and quickly.

Yeah its Wolf time we don't have time to waste.

Some solid goaltending will allow the team to stay afloat as they try to get through the goal scoring issues and find chemistry.

When are down 3-0 with 2 weak goals its a lost cause.

Wolf allowed 6 goals on Saturday but he would obviously allow one or less in the NHL and have won the Flames those games
