Red light-triggered intersection cameras and photo radar aren't even the same thing in the context of what we're talking about. The infrastructure for intersection cameras is fixed, it's clearly signed, and not hidden with the goal of being predatory. I have some reservations about the speed limits of intersections where they've enabled speed-on-green for the cameras to begin with, but that's a different matter.

Though on that subject, you could get the same benefit by increasing the amount of time the entire intersection stays red before allowing the next direction to proceed, likely without the accompanying increase in rear-end collisions that intersection cameras cause.

He never, ever, has a comment. It's so clearly obvious that he's not even looking at these documents, but the charade continues.

ugh, I get the same type of thing.

I have gotten used to asking for responses in writing from the client.

It depends on their job and what you’re asking them to review. There is some stuff that are outside your wheelhouse and a “I don’t even know why you’re asking me to look at this? Do you want me to check your spelling?” situations, but you kind of have to phrase it nicer than that.

When you know the work is good and you want to get it pushed through, that’s the guy you want

It's also who you want when you know it's unredeemably bad and can't be fixed.

I mean, I hope this person is confident enough in their role that they could respond saying they don't think their review will add any value. I think pretending to review something is easily the worst option of many possibilities.

You could always give em the Jamarcus Russell treatment. Send them blank documents and see what they say.

I had a high school science teacher who never read our lab reports. No matter what I did they'd come back saying 75% with one random check mark somewhere on the page.

I started including the text, "I'm confident Ms <nameofteacher> doesn't read these" in my reports. No change was noted and I did it for half the semester.

She was nice enough to not recommend me to continue in IB chemistry, so I showed the reports to the administration and got permission to enter the next level against her recommendation.

She taught for another 15 years after that, ending her career as science LL at a different CBE high school.

Getting Princess Auto'd GMG's.

I needed a new inverter generator for my RV as my old one finally gave up the ghost, and they have one that seemed like it fit the bill perfectly and is on sale for $1399. On my drive there, I was mentally preparing, "Walk straight to the generators, put this thing on a cart and walk out. You can do this. You don't need oversized open ended wrenches, rubber mallets, surplus ammo cans, and you have like 50 tie-down straps."

Well...... I walk in and 2 guys whom I convinced they pay to stack and unstack things to draw attention to them, are stacking garage heaters. "Walk past, don't look at them." Nope, couldn't resist. I really have been wanting one of these. Throw it on the cart $699. Guess I need a vent kit, call the neighbour who installs these things. "You need horizontal." Damn it, vertical is $199, horizontal is $499. Oh well, I'm committed, I aint putting this thing back. Get over to the generators, and grab my generator. Oooooh... that triple pigtail 30 amp cord could come in handy....$79 bucks. SInce I'll have an electrician wiring the garage heather, might as well get the power inlet for the house as well for this generator, can't be too prepared.... $89. Oops, need the adapter so my 30 amp trailer plug, works... let's go over to the RV stuff. $25 bucks. NO WAY sewer caddies are on sale... it is the end of the season I suppose, and I am here already. $449.

My $1399 Generator turned into a full truck and a $3500 trip. I hate and love that place with such extreme intensity at the same time. I can walk into any store on the planet, grab what I need and nothing more, and walk out the door. Princess Auto though? Not a chance in hell.

The reminds me of a report card we got for one of our kids at the end of first grade... One of the comments, left another student's name; "_____, is an active participant in music class"... Wasn't sure if it was because the teacher was leaving the school at the end of that year and had checked out, or because grading and commenting on the musical skill development of a bunch of 6 year olds must be mind-numbingly boring.

I’d like to thank Pylon for removing any guilt in my $60 PA trip.

Yeah. I have a relative that is a music teacher at an elementary, and is supposed to provide a report card comment for every kid in the school. Which is also stupid.

Does anyone also know if they ever made good hardcover, tome like compilations of Asimov and PKD's work? Not a soft cover basic compilation. Like display quality, anthology caliber. I wasn't able to find any for a reasonable price.

Similarly, I wish I nabbed the Roald Dahl adult stories ones when I was in my youth.

Try some of the larger used book stores - there's one in Kensington (can't recall the name) and two in Inglewood (Fairs Fair and ??). I found some out of print stuff at each of these earlier this year, plus saw some amazing 70-90's classic SciFi sets. Heck, they even had a stand of Ann Rand stuff at one.

And frankly the more police operational expenses come from speeding fines rather than general municipal budgets, the better. People have a choice about paying the former.

I consider photo and traffic automated speeding awards to be "voluntary" taxation. Although I hate the low speed limits in many places, and it bugs the c@rp outa me at suddenly slowing at some lights only to speed up, but it does overall reduce total incidents.

I do also wish there were less forced taxes and more luxury-oriented taxes instead of global taxes. For example higher taxes on luxury items, such as smokes.

I hate talking about work, so I never do it.

Finally, I am working on something exciting in Ottawa… my parents ask how works going. I decide “hey, maybe I can be someone enjoyable to talk to for once” and go into my exciting new work thing. Blah blah government, blah blah Trudeau, his wife’s leaving, needs a new house, blah blah blah same old ####ing nonsense I heard every day of my life living in Alberta. I’m so sick of this ####. Can’t even talk about life with someone from AB anymore. I’ve hit a point where I legitimately would never move back, no matter the opportunity.

Damn interac and credit is down across the city at some retailers. Coop is impacted and I couldn't buy a bunch of the groceries I needed there but Superstore was still up so I managed to get a few things I needed. I wonder if this is Rogers fault again?

I really miss Vancouver tap water since moving to Toronto. Water out of the tap in BC is so perfect.

I dislike how calcium heavy Calgary water is. Even after having it filtered, it still leaves layers of deposits in the kettle.

Restaurants that only give you a 1/4 of the chips, pita, bread you need, to go with the dips or salsa you ordered.
