Maybe it's just me, but I don't want Nylander here (above a relatively low cost in return), and I don't want to trade with Toronto. Let's look elsewhere for destinations for Lindholm and Hanifin.

Kadri for Nylander makes sense.

Do the Tkachuk trade but this time the other way

Lindholm
Hanifin
2024 2nd
Kuznetsov

For

Zegras

I doubt Zegras has wanted out but Anaheim won’t have all three of him, Mctavish, and Carlsson playinng center there long term. Sign Zegras at about the salary of Lindholm+Hanifin combined or less and he can be a long term piece here.

Why would Anaheim do that?
They absolutely can keep all 3 and just shift Zegras to the wing. Or run all 3 up the middle ala Crosby-Malkin-Staal.

I don’t know if Zegras is the guy you want to back up the truck for, could hit 100 or could remain a 60-70 point guy… but I don’t hate a deal like that for that kind of player (young, high upside potentially long term top line center).

Treliving loves Kadri. He’ll figure it out.

Zegras has played LW in the past so it makes sense.

I don't think they consider it either, they are building the right way at the moment.

Minnesota also has 14.7 million in dead cap space this year and next. I don't think they would have much of an appetite to try and obtain high-priced veterans right now.

So Anaheim, a rebuilding team, let's Lindholm go after the year (as they don't want 3 centres according to you).

Why would Anaheim want to do the opposite of the Tkachuk deal? They've seen the ending of that movie.

that's a great problem to have. Great teams are built through the middle, and you can always shift someone to the wing.

Kadri, Hanifin, Vladar for Nylander, Murray?

Re-sign Lindholm, Duchene on the cheap

Not sure I'd want to, given how much money there's be on that top line, but Kadri's cap is out which is the worst one I feel.

Of note, Sanheim was rumoured to be a part of the Hayes trade ahead of his NTC kicking in. Dvorak also may be on the way out due to the Newhook trade.

It is a terrible idea swapping 2 pending UFA’s for 2 others. Brodie is a massive downgrade on Hanifin and I don’t see an upgrade on the winger Nylander and the center Lindholm. Flames then extend Nylander to the 8x9.5 he wants and are stuck with $20M on the top 2 wingers for the next 7-8 years.

That is a fleecing by Toronto.

Decent fit there, probably would take them out of the running for Hanifin
