He is Bedards best friend. And since they have 4 picks in the 2nd round, it’s not a waste.

But it really depends on whether they covet someone else badly at the time of their first 2nd round pick. Detroit picks 3 in a row prior to their next pick, so if they want, for example the best goalie prospect, they might need to pull the trigger on the goalie early.

Calgary likely needs to move into the top 2 picks in the 2nd round to get Cristall. And if one of those teams really wants Cristall, it’s not going to happen.

Would really like to see us grab Gauthier with our second. I would even consider moving up if you knew someone was going to be taking him.
Ultra high compete, non stop motor, soft hands in close, very good defensively and an absolute pain to play against.

Would quickly become a fan favorite.

He has solid middle six potential and could really turn into an impact player.

Only knock on him is his skating which is more due to mechanics (choppy stride). Get him with the same skating coach that helped Pelletier and I am more than sure that he could end with above average NHL speed.

In normal draft years, he would be a first round pick.

I'd love if we could trade with Detroit-Hanifin for their 3 seconds and really load up with 4 picks in the second. Otherwise I think the Flames have to look D first unless someone falls.

man, the idea that Chicago gets Moore and Cristall on top of winning the Bedard lottery is sickening. Screw that franchise.

Does Chicago use all 4 of their 2nd round picks today?
Does Detroit use all 3 that are back to back to back?

I hope the Flames get Aiden Fink with a mid to later round pick. Local Calgary kid, Brooks Bandits and AJHL leading scorer and MVP. Heading to Penn State soon. My son is a teammate of Aiden's little brother and the Finks seem like a great family too.

Apparently Chicago tried to move up yesterday (using its 2nd round pick(s)), from 19 to whatever, as they wanted to draft Oliver Moore.

They were unsuccessful and he fell to them anyway.

it shows the strength of this draft that after the initial picks, pretty much anyone could have gone from about 8 to 20 or so.
