Lindholm is an excellent player. He is not an elite #1C though. Ideally he’s on your 2nd line as a #1B type of center.
He is absolutely not worth that much money. I hope he doesn’t sign.

Like, I feel like Brad or Darryl would’ve had Sec214 killed for some of these things he’s revealing.

Forgive me for asking, but what has Sec214 actually revealed that has actually come true? They could not have been more wrong on the coaching situation. Are they really an insider at all??

The only way he can only sign a 7 year deal is if the Flames keep him all next year and then lose him for nothing. The minute he is traded somewhere he can sign an 8 year deal with that team.

Exactly. No more than Horvats 8.5
Man he owes 1/3rd of his next contract to Gaudreau and Tkachuk

If the team he's traded to isn't just renting him.

Then, there was the whole "something is being done with Lindholm" a few days ago.
... and they knew nothing about the Toffoli trade..
Honestly, the description they put in their "updates".. how have they not been fired yet if they are actually a credible source.

But he's cost controlled at 6.25 for like 6 years.
Hell then Weegar must be worth a top 5 pick then.

Shame on them if they did it.

See Murray Edwards. New GM and staff, yet the same tactics continue.

As a casual observer of the Sabres, I don’t see how they don’t offer the best package of forward prospects for Hanifin. They would benefit immensely from his presence, and they are looking ahead at a bit of a log jam up front.
Like Peterka/Krebs + Kulich + a pick.

Yes, but the fact of the matter is that Lindholm has the ability to sign an 8 year contract with any team he plays for. It is not some sort of exclusive Flames bargaining chip unless they do not trade him and he becomes a UFA next summer.

FWIW I have a immediate family member who is dating someone that works for the Wranglers and he said a month ago that virtually everyone in the organization thought Mitch Love was going to get the job before interviews started.
Things changed sometime during the interview process but the information Sec got was probably accurate at the time he got it.
I also have another source in the organization (same one who gave me the original details on the Toffoli trade before they were out) who told me about Backlund requesting a trade a few years ago. I believe Sec had that info as well.
His story checks out to me.

I actually don't think Hanifin's going to make much more. Sanheim is cost controlled but pretty expensively for what he brings (23 points last year to Hanifin's 38) and his deal goes to 35 years old. And he makes a lot early on - it's front end loaded, and he has NTC clauses all the way through.
I'd rather push Hanifin on a deal for, say, 6.75. It's not out of line with the market.

Correct. Until the next TDL anyway. The window between the TDL and UFA is the "sign and trade" window. Before then, yes, any team that gets him can give him 8.
The point is that the acquiring team might not want to do that.

I want to say thank you for this info. I personally have valued and appreciated Sec214's stuff for a while, and your vocalizing support for him is a really nice gesture.

Hanifin out for 13, trade down to 22 from 16 and get Sanheim for doing so?
