I like it. Big RFA with potential. Bought on a down year.
If the scouts like him that's a better bet than a draft pick

I don’t see anyone touching him until the Team Canada investigation wraps up.

The Flames have never stated they are planning to blow it up...It seems like that what some people on this site think the plan is though, as that's come about through a bad game of telephone tag.

Coming into the league with seasons of 30 in 54 and 46 in 76 is rather impressive for a guy just entering the league (and continent).
Third season was an outlier. Under Huska's tutelage don't see why they can't polish his game and capitalize on some pretty evident potential that's there.

If the Flames can't get a 1st ++ for Hanifin then I don't think it's the market that's the issue.

Flames got younger, cheaper, faster and added a pick. At the expense of an expiring contract they needed to trade.
Kid is just 25 this month. Even if they do a complete rebuild he’s still in the window to contribute if they like him.
One thing - is there any KHL flight risk if the contract/arbitration isn’t to his liking?

His 5 on 5 stats are similar to Toffoli only if we don't consider defensive impact. They have similar point totals, but Sharangovich's line generates less chances for, and has more chances and goals against.

Fun fact: Willi Plett was drafted 80th overall.

Yes, he could go to the KHL if he wanted. Probably more of a risk with a Belarusian than a North American or someone from Sweden/Finland.

It’s almost like being younger and having more term left makes your value higher…comparing what the Flames paid is nonsense.
I don’t know the player but if he turns out to be a 20-30 goal scorer and 50 point player then this is an absolute awesome trade. With a little bit of optimism I feel like this is a good deal.

Feels like a lot of negative reactions here (including myself originally) stem from the fact that Sharangovich doesn't have the 1st round cache, but if you look at 2016 1st round forwards (2016 so that the comparables are also 25), he has a better ppg than almost every forward outside of Matthews, Laine, Dubois, Chucky and Keller.

Hope we get a Sharangovic - Ruzicka - Phillips line and they light the league on fire

This is a brutally bad hockey trade. Wow.

One guy will randomly pop off with Huberdeau one day. Will Sharapovich become the next Cheechoo?
