Setting aside the fact that the Bank of Canada largely dictates money supply and not the government, that doesn't even begin to make sense.
Increase in money supply since that election:
4.3% (annualized)
Average annual increase in money supply in each decade:
1970s: 17%
1980s: 10.8%
1990s: 3.9%
2000s: 6.9%
2010s: 7.4%
So since that election, we've seen some of the slowest growth in money supply in modern Canadian history.

Hmmmmm
Wonder why Chong was targeted.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/cons...bank-1.5360647
Conservative foreign-affairs critic Michael Chong said it's unacceptable that Canada would support the bank when China is conducting secret trials of Spavor and Kovrig.
Chong said the Liberal government should use all of the tools at its disposal, including withholding the payment, to put pressure on Chinese authorities to stop the trials and release the two Michaels.

Opinion column. Important facts about interest rates and our debt.
“Since taking office, the Trudeau Liberals have increased spending by 55% from $317 billion in 2016 to $490 billion now. The federal deficit went from $29 billion then to $40 billion now and the debt has risen from $648 billion to $1.2 trillion.
And the cost to service the debt, it’s gone from $$25.7 billion in 2016 to $43.9 billion now, and that cost is only going to keep rising.
When Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called for the Trudeau government to rein in spending this week, to help slow the growth of inflation, Trudeau scoffed. He accused the Conservatives of not backing COVID supports for Canadians – a lie, they voted for them – or of wanting Canadians to go without key programs like dental care, the new national child care program or an expanded tool rebate for skilled trades.
All of this is nonsense, these programs are not the cause of Trudeau’s massive spending increases, which banks and even former Liberal finance minister John Manley have said are contributing to inflation.”

Oh I doubt he’s equipped to be fixing any “financial ruin,” nor do I think he’d be around by the time your financial ruin fantasy comes true.
At least I’m not actively rooting for the Liberals. Didn’t take you for a liberal apologist, doc.

I wonder if all of the money the Liberals are burning is contributing to climate change.
Or just lowering standards of living.

The level of cuts that happened today at Bell Media, specifically CTV News, is downright shocking. Some of the best and brightest in the country were let go. This is a serious issue that governs our democracy in this country. People need to be held to account in politics, business and in government. We need an informed public.
I understand that people watch their news and get their reporting in different ways than before, less radio, tv, newspaper etc but the need for that news is still very much required.
I know people say they get their news from facebook, twitter or some random podcast etc but that news is only being repurposed. There are no facebook reporters asking questions to the people in government and in power or reporting on matters before the courts, those are journalists at media companies.
I don't know what the answer is but can we continue to sit idle and see the private broadcasters continue to fad away and than ONLY support CBC for the most part and than wonder why people have issues with that? Bell had some very pointed issues with the government and their policies, I think people need to have a look. We need to work together as a country to try and solve this issue as best as possible, it's worth fighting for.
Tough to see as I enjoyed all the people let go so far that I know of.

The federal deficit was not 29 billion when Trudeau assumed office. People can argue the fine details but the last Conservative budget was essentially balanced. Trudeau promised a 10 billion deficit for 3 years then a return to balance, that went right out the window and spending was out of control long before anyone heard of Covid.

Significant amounts of funding are now being directed at private legacy media. The digital news subscription tax credit effectively means the government pays for 15% of all news subscription in Canada.
There is the 25% tax credit for journalist wages
And the Canadian Periodical funds for monthly and weekly publications.
Total projected value of these subsides is 600 million over 5 years
In thanks for this funding some criticized Trudeau for buying the news.
