Which might be a blessing.
Because while I like Lindholm I don't really want him for 8 years at $9.5M or more, which should be the only way the number isn't possible.
And really the Flames have $38M expiring this year to next, there should be no "impossible" number if they really want to keep Lindholm. The question is if they "want" to keep him at that number, not if they "can"

I would absolutely do it. Salaries will be going up and Lindholm will be an effective player even near the end of that deal. We also have nothing high end coming up the pipeline at centre. Get it done.

Really regretting the Kadri deal even more now. If our only big contracts were Huby and Weegar then 8.9 for Lindholm looks fine(ish).

It doesn’t sound like lindholm would do it either . I don’t know how they would make $8.9 million work , let alone more.

Lindholm will make Conroy's job pretty easy I think. We can no longer act from a position of weakness when trying to retain our own GD players. You don't want to be a flame at or below market rate? cool, see you later.
Give him a number and a deadline. Let him know it's not a negotiation. Tell him he'll be traded to the highest bidder. Execute. Thank him for his services. Rinse and repeat with the other 6.

They can easily make it work. The deal doesn't kick in until the cap goes up like 8-9$M a year. Have you talked to Lindholm? How would you know he wouldn't do it?
