The "Florida came into the playoffs on a roll" narrative does make me laugh a little, considering people say the Flames blew it down the stretch.

The last 20 games of the season:

Florida: 12-6-2; 26 pts; 55.4% xGF; .902 save percentage
Calgary: 11-5-4; 26 pts; 56.4% xGF; .899 save percentage

Florida gets in with 92 points, Calgary misses with 93 points, and then Bob goes on a heater with a .958 save percentage over the 2nd and 3rd rounds (Adin Hill is on a similar heater with a .940 over his last 8 games).

If you get the best goaltending in a series you are going to win that series more often than not. If the Flames got in and Markstrom put up a .930 I would have liked their chances too.

That playoff was just the prelude to this season.

Outshoot the Stars and Oilers 476-365, out chance them 173-130, but have a .967 PDO (7.35 shooting %, and .893 save percentage). When you can score you don't get a save, and when you get a save you couldn't score...just the microcosm of the entire season.

Not that I ever seem to be right on a hockey prediction (I said oilers/knights was going to seven, thank the lord I was wrong....) , but it's a tall order to sweep the Canes- especially with how close the games are.
Canes squeak out a win tonight. Then panthers end it in 6.

Bennett just destroyed Slavin with a super clean shoulder to shoulder check. Knocked him silly. Fell down after standing for a second with Andersen's help. He's going to have to go to the dark room for a bit.

Seriously bad news for Carolina. Down 1-0 early in an elimination game and lost your best defender. This could be over early
