I get the sense that he is a professional above all else and will do what he thinks is best for is career. He did after all, go to free agency last year then circled back to Calgary when I am sure if he really wanted to, could have gone elsewhere. I would be shocked if there weren't other offers out there for him.
Sorry was talking about last year - in terms of where the $10.5M comes from if we re-signed Gaudreau.

If we re-sign Gaudreau then no way Zadorov would have been back IMO.

Kind of irks me that Brad said he didn't event talk to any other candidates when he hired Peters.

I definitely think Matthew Phillips re-signs after hearing the press conference - do not think he gets a better chance to make the team anywhere else.

Conroy talks about how he has a great relationship with Lindholm and how important he is, follows that up by saying he believes Lindholm wants to be a Calgary Flame.

CP: Sounds like Lindholm wants out for sure.

I'm not so sure about that. I've seen Kadri play plenty over the years and I've never seen him that 'down' for such an extended time. I think it comes back to having fun. Nobody on the team last year really seemed to be having any fun, save for a moment or two here and there. When you're not having fun playing or coming to the rink it's going to affect your play.

Not to let Kadri off the hook. It's on him to play through it, or figure it out to push through it. But I think with a new coach and new style (and hopefully more fun) he'll be a different player next year, same with a lot of his teammates. It's a lot easier to put in the effort when playing the game doesn't just seem like a chore.

Looks like we’re done with the meanie coach portion of the Flames cycle and back to the pizza party coach……….. for at least a season and a half.

If Gaudreau signs for $10.5M, and then you still have the pending Tkachuk decison then no way Zadorov get's re-signed.

Kadri: $7M
Zadorov: $3.75M
Rooney: $1.1M

I doubt any of those contracts are signed in the situation where Gaudreau comes back.
This is one of the signing that Conroy was talking about that just plugs a spot that a young guy should have.

I was once in a lineup at home hardware, and back in the day paying cash was way quicker than now.. tap wasn't available. I was impressed when the guy in front of me pulled out some dough. After that the clerk asked for an autograph.

Craig Conroy.. making lineups excellent since ~2007

You’re ignoring:

“I know where Lindholm was as an AGM, but now I want to see where he is as a GM”

That doesn’t make it sound Lindholm wanted to be here, nor did Lindholm’s own words at the exit interview.

I personally prefer Lindy than Kardi if we can only keep one. Kadri didn't show his pesty and nasty side at all last season, that's what I was hoping for when they signed him.

You have to understand, managing peoples emotions is so much more entertaining for some.

It also won't hurt if they hire Mitch Move as the new head coach.

This is interesting because it means that maybe the group didn't always agree with Brad's choices; but also they really didn't have a say because they didn't make the decisions together. This also means that Brad might have been missing out on valuable contributions from people with different insights or just going on his own whims.

When Brad first came in there was a few hit and misses on a few players that he had to ship back out. It also sounds like management may have disagreed with how the Johnny situation was handled. Obviously Johnny seemed confused. Management should have been more connected to the player so that they could work out the best course of action together. Too much was indecision that had consequences for both the player and the organization.

I was expecting to be underwhelmed, but I was quite happy. The Nonis thing seemed weird to me at first, but seeing all three of those guys at the podium, it all made a lot more sense.

I think the guy happiest with the Nonis addition is probably actually Conroy.

Ehhhhhhh. Kind of. For context Conny said he knew where Lindholm was at at the end of the season. Underlying theme I believe is that Lindholm was probably the main guy who'd refuse to come back if Sutter was still here.

Skip ahead a few weeks and Sutter is now gone and Craig believes that with Sutter gone, his tune may change about wanting out.

So while you're right, your sentiment is only kind of right in the context of timeline.

You do know there isn't two methods to coaching.

You can be demanding without creating a culture of negativity and hate.

I loved the presser and the honesty was refreshing. flat out answered questions and wasn't wishy washy around a process.

Team - aware on no trade list, needs to become a fun place to be, players talk and city is great. New arena will help

Scouts - likes where scouts are, no issues

Roster - will leave spots open, young players needed to fill roster for cap, on the young players to earn the jersey but there will be spots available.

very impressed with the directness
