Their year over year consistency is mediocre... at the very least its emotionally draining.

I still think your aim should be to finish as high as you can and not rely on just getting in because those Cinderella stories are rare.

Fair. But some posters clearly don't think the regular season even matters if you don't make a bang in the POs, as far as if you are a contender or not, and that a rebuild is necessary if you are not. So at the end of the day it's just a word people use that has a lot of fuzz around it for me.

I believe a rational way of looking at it is in fact to reduce fan interest. The problems with this franchise are from top down. Plugging holes to remain competitive. There's almost too much evidence supporting this for it to just be coincidence now.
I believe it's irrational to think things will change if there isn't change.

Once again you're putting thoughts in my head. I didn't say I was expecting big change.
I think the ownership group prioritizes year over year competitiveness and that's unlikely to change.
New GM won't change that. New coach won't change that. The market won't suddenly become desirable to GMs, coaches and players.
Lots of reason to jump ship if that's what you want.
I'll choose to hang in and hope they figure it out. Hope for change isn't the same as expecting change, and it's certainly a lot more fun that what you're describing.

And because if this I don’t see if as such an easy decision for the Flames to throw in the towel and declare a rebuild. If you look at the season as a whole, the biggest issue in my opinion came down to poor goaltending, or at least the fact that on most nights our guy was second best. It’s been said before that even with average goaltending this team is comfortably in a playoff spot.
So the dilemma management will have is determining whether or not that type of situation requires another shot with this group, with either a rebound from Markstrom or even someone like Wolf getting an opportunity. The problem is though even with better goaltending does that put us in contender territory? I would argue no, but it certainly makes us a playoff team. So it depends on the goal (which fans and management might not agree with).
As far as Ritchie, it’s not a pick I would have made but in a weird way I get it. Coaches see this guys in practice and maybe Sutter saw some creativity or an unknown factor that Nashville didn’t have the book on. Also, as mentioned he did score on Saros on a previous attempt. His attempt was actually pretty decent and almost worked which was better than Backlund or Kadri. I totally get the optics but the season ended well before the Ritchie attempt.

Watching this Flames team this year was NO FUN at all!
Shows I watched this year rather than a live Flames game on tv.
- Fargo Season 3(Repeat watching)
- Stranger Things Season 5(Repeat watch)
- Wicked Tuna random crappy episode
- The National- prob 6-7 times
- Barry Season 3 (repeat watch)
- M3ghan (repeat watch)
- Spy X Family Season 1
- Global News Calgary from the night before lol...
- Poker Face Episode 3 with Judith Light (repeat watch)
- Plane with Gerard Butler... lol
- Demolition Man (repeat watch)
- SNL with Woody Harrelson
- Vanderpump Rules 2 episodes... lol
- last Saturday in my hotel room Dr. Pimple Popper instead of watching them vs the Canucks.
this NHL product is soooo terrible and the Flames are one of the worst watches in the NHL this season.
I'd rather watch some Asian lady pop zits on tv and poor wannabe-famous Restaurant Workers in LA over the Flames! hahahhaa

Our division has been weak. Both seasons we won the division we got absolutely mopped in the post-season. Yes, last year was against a divisional opponent, but they then went on and got swept...
Not to mention the two guys leading our team (JG and Chucky)...it was painfully obvious they were never getting us anywhere. Mediocre through and through.

At least I don't comment in games I say I don't watch. That seems weird.
And if by defending Markstrom "to the death" you mean "actually looking at in game plays", guilty. If you mean "never accepting any cricism and never criticizing him myself", well, then that's just a bad lie.

Wouldn't surprise me but I bet the team and, or coaches discussed options for the shoot out at some point prior; So Sutter went with the player/'s or his own gut feeling on the call to put Richie in. Kadri, it could be Sutter is trying to show some faith in the player who for whatever reason isn't coming half way.
I don't think Sutter handled this season well, I think he had the idea initially that he wanted a team committed to defense as he saw what happened when the team got away from the game plan against Edmonton during the playoffs. Instead of giving the new guys an opportunity, let them play and building some trust, he was likely too ridged in his approach. The result were players feeling isolated. The changes and demands leading to confidence issues. Sutter has a wealth of ideas about how to succeed, but probably didn't use very good tact. Obviously goaltending was not good this season which created it's own set of problems.

Sutter was extended for 2 years starting next season right after his Jack Adams. So if everyone's happy paying him for that time frame, great.

There's more than "some paperwork" and or being "happy paying him"....there is a penalty to the owners of multiple millions of dollars annually. That isn't something that (most) people do "just because" they're OK with paying someone to do nothing.
If Murray Edwards is happy paying Darryl to do nothing, then that's his prerogative...but it's not ours.

I watched pretty much most of it until we choked it against the Ducks where we scored 1 goal. I think it was beginning of March. and i didn't comment much in the GTs unless I was watching.
Weird is losing it in here and throwing out life achievements and resume.. lol

Dude - I never raised achievements at all. I was accused of being a fraud, out of nowhere, by someone raising stuff from other threads (which were about law). So I said who I actually was, to put it to bed. Of course, here you are, lying about what happened. You are a child.

A while back, Eric Francis mentioned on the radio that “ownership learned its lesson about Sutter as GM” (implying that they did not want him in that role). Hope that is true.
