Tkachuk wore #19 right away. Even in his first game against Winnipeg in the rookie tournament in Penticton, he was wearing #19.

Love the maturity in Pelletier's comments in this Athletic article about when to play Coronato. He admits that it's a big jump from the AHL and that his game has had rough patches.
Quote:
“Here, you play like every two days. Sometimes you play back-to-back and travel,” Pelletier said. “If I’m being honest — not the game in L.A., but before the game in L.A. in Arizona, against Anaheim. I was kind of tired. When I’m tired, I’m not the same player as I am normally. I think for me, it’s a learning experience. I know what I should do and what I shouldn’t do so I won’t be tired again.”

So if Poirier hits and becomes a legit player we are actually in good shape. Hopefully we also hit on this year's 1st

I would say see the concerns about Tkachuk's skating when drafted and I would say I don't view him as any worse off. In fact, Coronato is probably at a better place now with his stride than chucky was when he arrived at his first camp.

Almost — Gaudreau started the 2014 training camp wearing 53. When he made the opening night roster he changed to 13.

Skating can improve with work too. Brayden Point is the prime example. Draisaitl is another

I think the Flames view skating as a skill that can be improved upon, perhaps more than others. Certainly, they seem willing to take players who ‘see the game well’ over those who can burn and maybe don’t see it so well. Valamaki wasn’t a great skater, the knock on Zary in his draft year is he wasn’t a great skater, and Tkachuk was awful.

I don't know much about this kid, but he got drafted at a decent spot. What are we expecting from him LONG TERM besides 40 goals and 100 points a season?

Good all around player, strong offensive winger, we love the right handed shot?

Nobody should expect 40 goal/100 pt

That would be like a dream

Expect a top 6, 30 goal scorer….be reasonable

Already has a big league shot and is a great skater.

The rest is up to the Flames to develop, so we'll see.

His comments I completely understand. When I trained for my first marathon, every single run in excess of 30 km or 3 hours I made mistakes that impacted my performance. Whether it was too much or not enough rest or recovery period, not enough running gel, taking the running gels at the wrong time, not enough fluids, etc. It will not be as easy as he says "I know what I should do and what I shouldn’t do so I won’t be tired again." because it is a learning process and he will make other mistakes but understanding does show maturity.

Oh man I should have used green text..

You forget how sarcasm is not relayed always through text..

Was that not the running joke, 40 goals 100 points projection out of some Edmonton Player a while back? Guess I got it wrong.

Ok so 3 replies I got one useful tidbit, could be projected as a 30 goal scorer, nice. I like the right handed shot on the right wing definitely.

This is the way..

I'm not asking for the world, but a Pastrnak-lite would be great. Hoping for a consistent 25-35 goal scorer, maybe a couple of 40's in his prime. I truly believe Huberdeau can get this guy rolling. He did for Duclair and Tippet in Florida.

Schremp. That's a verb. As in "the E=NG prospect has just been Schremped."

Tkachuk didn't improve much, despite taking some summer lessons. Point seemed to take it more seriously.

Tkachuk has skill in other areas which made up for it. But if he developed skating as well - man.
