Yeah it's certainly not objective in the least. I don't really get it. If he has a rough game that's fair to say so, go for it. But if he plays well say that, too. If the team is losing but the blame is obviously not on him (like tonight) maybe call it like it is?

I've been one of Markstrom's biggest critics all year...and none of this is on him tonight.

An unlucky one made it 2-1.

And then just two brainfarts by our top 4 dmen made it 4-1.

Markstrom had one great season and I thank him for it, but I am itching for the era of wolf and vladar

I think markstrom's psyche is cooked and we're wasting time keeping him on as the #1

Thats not a mulligan for the defense who have been poor as often as they haven't this season. Think the blue line needs a bit of an overhaul as well

If markstrom had the recent record vladar had, Darryl would have given him these two games back to back ahead of a break. Guaranteed.

He’s trying too hard to get Markstrom going. He needs to realize it’s not working for the team as a whole.

Doesn't matter if you had Pronger in his prime on those two goals, they are saves that your goalie needs to make.

What I said is. If you listen to goalie coaches breakdown what they want from goalies they will tell you that most highlight reel saves are eye rollers for them because its a goalie having to yard sale themselves from being out of position.

Of course you take the save regardless of how its made. But a goalie making sprawling saves in a game isnt always indicative that the goalie is dialed in or playing well.

He didn’t over commit. He played the puck where it was going and Coleman deflected it even further away from him. That’s not an overcommitment. Goalies get beat when the puck goes in an unexpected way.

Coleman misses that puck, Markstrom makes the save. Coleman deflects it away, no save needed.

Flames didn’t just play bad D, they caused two goals - one by a deflection into the net, one by a deflection to a Hawk stick.

You have to hope your starter from the beginning of the season can beat the Hawks. A good balance the rest of the way would be giving Markstrom every 4th or 5th start.
