My comment was: Preston Manning has ZERO business being on this panel as chair, member, or even "guy who brings in the catered sandwiches".

Not that it will do anything, but I just had to submit a "Comment" asking how Mr. Manning belongs anywhere near anything like this other than just political favours since he just owns most of the party membership.
Such a joke

Why do conservatives keep thinking Preston Manning should be anywhere near anything? He guy is and always has been a loser, and has helped set back conservative politics in Canada for a generation. Though given that his dad was such a giant piece of ####, maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on Preston?

I can't wait to see how the failures in each of those topics to be addressed will be the federal governments fault, not the UCP. Will this be released just prior to the election?

Preston advised Smith on the floor crossing debacle, so I'm amazed she trusts him. But she probably idolizes the guy, so no number of missteps would sour her on him.

A man who should have quietly rode off into the sunset years ago. He is the reason the Conservatives have mainly been in opposition for ages.

Uh.
That's a fire-able offense for the Premier, but....sigh.
It cannot be stated how significant of a breach this is.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...utts-1.6719743
Quote:
A staffer in Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's office sent a series of emails to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service, challenging prosecutors' assessment and direction on cases stemming from the Coutts border blockades and protests, CBC News has learned.
|
Quote:
Soon after being elected leader of the United Conservative Party and sworn in as premier, Smith's office asked for a briefing on the cases. Subsequent emails critiqued the prosecutors' assessment of the charges and pushed back on the characterizations of the protest.
"This is so improper on so many levels — it's pure interference with Crown independence," said one source with knowledge of the correspondence.
|
Quote:
The revelation comes just days after Smith herself backtracked from comments about two instances when she said she had contacted Crown prosecutors, subsequently clarifying that "at no time" had she communicated directly with prosecutors.
The premier's office did not respond to CBC's request for comment.

Well that "staffer" is about to be unceremoniously run over by a convoy. "The premier was not aware of this lone staffer's actions, and condemns them!"
On a more serious note, this is really really bad.

Just a hunch but I'd bet there's a greater than zero chance that DS knew about the emails and/or used a staffer as a proxy.
