The only time I want to hear callers is after they’ve clearly been drinking heavily and are calling in after a big game. Even then, I only want to hear that a few times a season, partly to remind me of why it’s such terrible radio.

I think it has more to do with starting off a new show and trying to drive listener engagement and create connections.

Same with all the twitter polls, etc... The text line another way, but it's notoriously toxic.

Being the new show following up after a beloved show left the air is tough. The first few years with Boomer didn't get much love way back then either. It takes time to build up a history with listeners.

if they are going to have fans call in at least make it entertaining .. I mean fundamental disagreements and heated debates between hockey minds .. best kind of calls . drunks with nothing of substance to add or overly emotional callers with lack of knowledge to back up their hot takes stink . I am always amazed at the inability of peoope to use google to look things up that are very easy to find .. they instead make pat do it

In the morning I find myself catching up on the previous days flames talk. Basically flames talk and Barnburner are the only shows I make an effort to listen to live or on the podcast daily.

Callers, if you're calling in to answer a subjective question (probably for a chance at a prize draw) you should probably ANSWER THE QUESTION FIRST and EXPLAIN WHY AFTER, not the other way around.

For me, listening to brain dead callers on the radio is the absolute worst. I didn't turn the radio on to listen to some dope share his opinion. I suppose it can be entertaining on some level, but I pretty much turn it off immediately.

The call-in segment is always death in any show. It's so awkward I have to flip it for a few mins. Extra bad when the person calling in considers themselves to be really funny, and forces all these cringeworthy dad jokes. Just do what the show asked you to do and answer the question, don't try to be entertaining...you're not as funny as you think.

Might just be me (I doubt it) but that PDOcast slot is a gaping hole / energy sucker / niche snoozer that should remain in podcast form so that those that are inclined can listen when they're having trouble falling asleep.


Will never happen but 960 needs a Kerr type to energise the station with some content that's a bit more cantankerous but still informed.

I caught the Dragons Breath segment on Friday morning. Good God, that is awful! Just complete garbage. Took an Insider segment with Leslie, which could talk about current Flames happenings, and instead made him argue/defend completely ludicrous "takes" that were often completely derogatory to the Flames. Garbage like Vladar will be the #1, Huberdeau was the worst signing ever by the Flames, etc etc. Just completely awful.

It's no wonder radio is basically dead with crap like that. It was probably the worst sports radio I have heard in my entire life.

I was never a big Kerr fan, but I agree that the PDOcast needs to stay a podcast. I've never heard such a monotone, boring voice on the radio before. He makes Logan Gordon sound exciting. Hopefully something can replace it soon.
