Great game. Weeger looks amazing. Not getting to high though, the Avs did get in at like 3am after a back to back. I'm sure Sutter is saying the same thing.

Really fun game to watch, loving the way the team looks to start. Good test Saturday. Give me this forward lineup next game.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Dube - Kadri - Mangiapane
Rooney - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Ruzicka - Ritchie

beyond me why rooney wasn't on line 3 to start the season . coleman is better on the right too i think

I don't thin the late night would have affected the Avs too much - it's game 2 of the season. If that happened in February, sure. Bu they're not tired one game into the season.
I also think any effect it did have was offset by the fact that they had a game under their belts, vs the Flames playing their first.

Sutter said it many times, they need depth down the middle.
I think he prefers giving up a winger fit on the 3rd line if that means more structured down the center

Really solid game. All the lines played well enough. The d was tremendous, and markstrom was solid.
Zadorov looked absolutely great last night. Solid d, moving the puck up efficiently and physical!

They need to gear it around Huberdeau, IMO, and felt to me like it was very much still sorting itself and not featuring him as much as it should.
Huge potential with his vision that I'm sure the Flames coaching staff are salivating over.

I would like to see Stone get a chance on the PP2, for that slap shot threat.

CP really grew in the early 2000s when these types of boards were popular and the 2004 cup run happened. Most of the folks were in their early 20s to late 30s then.
Now you add 20 years.

does the 4th line C really matter that much though ? what's the gap between Lewis and Rooney there? rooney looked much better with Backlund

Ya, I think Mangiapane should be on the right side, good for one timers. Kadri net front and Lindholm cruising the slot for soft spots. Weegar should also be the d man with the first unit.

He is 122 games behind Gio for 2nd, and 392 games behind Iggy for 1st.
In the 5 decade history of the franchise since Atlanta, only 38 players have even played 392 games for the Flames. Only 29 have played that many in Calgary.

Ah, how many of you guys remember fondly how fun it was to swim in our oversized suits?

What a fun game that was against the defending champs. What a game.
The new star players all looked up to form. Especially Weegar. What a pickup he has been. Big congrats to Sutter for win #700.
Can definitely get used to this all season long!
Now hopefully the team can get some revenge against the Oilers in a few days.
|
Honestly really hope they do as i'll be at that game

I agree. But powerplay chemistry just takes time. The entitled primadonnas up North have had literally years to work on it, and it shows.

A trend I hope NEVER comes back, haha. Every time I see people wearing suits from the 90s/2000s, I cringe at the sight of excessively baggy material and lack of proper tailoring.

It was a good win and I only listened and watched highlights but the team seems solid. I think the Flames really upgraded as far as toughness and size goes with both Huberdeau and Kadri.
