I posted in the other thread. Sounds like it's actually his aunt or cousin....
Still a good thing though.

You've literally just described every Damien Cox article (except for the shame as he has none). You might want to be more specific, but without linking it as he doesn't deserve the clicks.

Yup. What a moron. In that article did he really say that there’s a new arena coming for Calgary in 2024?

It's a travesty Damien Cox still has a job when so many better hockey writers have been let go in recent years.

It makes me think that the Flames recognize that now is not the time to blow things up; that the current group of players is still young, and still with things to prove.

Don't think that's his wife/gf. I went through her Twitter, and I think she might be a 50+ year old lesbian. She aslo seems like a bit of a Karen tbh. Lots of "tweeting at the manager" stuff, and lots of " activism!!!!!" (the kind that has a pile of exclamation points all over the place).
Not a trumpster/anti-vaxxer/flat-earther or anything like that, just... I dunno. Crazy aunt vibes. Not like in a bad way, just in a "wow, that's a lot of energy" kinda way.

Agreed. It wasn't in Tkachuks interest to limit the trade to a single team. He had leverage, but the team had control. He didn't want to get into a game of chicken with Treliving and risk being stuck with the Flames for another season, likely hurting his value and losing year 8 on the deal.
Tkachuk provided Treliving options which kept his trade value up. This ensured a trade, expidited things, and set the stage for the NHL's first 8 year sign and trade.

The section in bold is a big slice. If the Flames don't go deep and lose both players to free agency in a year, how will most fans look back on this in 5 years? The Treliving thread was trending because Gaudreau made it to free agency. Heck, some were ready to lynch Treliving on a poor credibility rumor he offered a ling term deal to Kadri.
I am not crapping on the trade. I like it. Just pointing out its a bit premature for victory laps.

I just iterated why. How much money would you give up to be warm?
Some people also like playing hockey where people like hockey. For every player that wants to be anonymous there are players that would like to feel like celebrities. Dont ask me why.
And also, its not the 'same money.'

Of course its lame. As is anyone stupid enough to buy it.
'Blaming the weather' is perfect.
"Oh its not the organization, or the taxes, or the fans, or the City, or the Rink, or my teammates....its the weather!"
It completely absolves the individual if the people being spoon-fed feces are stupid enough to swallow.
Well...we cant do anything about the weather! So all is fine! Just a bad stroke of geographical and meteorological luck!
You'd have to be an idiot to believe that BS.

It’s Cox, so it’s probably one lame hot take after another. I don’t get the Star either but he tweeted earlier that the Flames didn’t win the trade — and won’t — unless Huberdeau and Weegar are signed to extensions.

Wow what a deal! Has to be one of the biggest trades in NHL history not far behind Gretzky and Lindros. Pretty cool for the Flames to take advantage of a team in shock over a playoff loss. Seems like something that would normally happen to us.
Also I made a meme:

Naw, Treliving could've doubled down & simply retained after arbitration and then traded him to the highest bidder at TDL. Surely, there'd be at least 10 suitors, and better returns vs the Hurricanes/Blues offers.

What if a GM set up a sign & trade. Got the player to negotiate the terms with team #2. Signs the contract with team #1 to those terms and then team #1 says psych, we’re not trading you? Or team #2 backs out last second?
Is there trade language built into the contract? Or is it one of those nobody’s worrying about something like that yet things until someone actually tries to pull something.
