Would rather have had Colin White at his cap hit as a bounce back candidate

Everyone calm down, this is depth. Seems like a nice addition, has size and is a very good skater. Once upon a time, this player had very real potential, and was a 3rd round pick. Sutter might be able to coax something out of him.

Yes this is definitely the case, but it's still fun to make fun at the scenario because making fun of it takes the attention briefly away from the disappointing reality of the situation.

Feels like these are the deals the Flames were going to make to fill out the roster if they actually signed Gaudreau. Weird.

I was actually thinking these signings were likely planned with Gaudreau signing in mind where they would be tight against the cap ceiling. I guess even with space freed up they still liked the players enough to go through with things.

1 way is pay based. It means instead of a NHL and a different AHL salary, He will be payed the same NHL salary regardless of where he is playing

Good point. These guys could be used as veteran AHL depth to allow the Flames to audition young guys in the system.

This is easily Try-Hard’s greatest start to Free Agency ever.

Lighting the fuse. Tkachuk trade will be when we aim for the bottom.

I generally take it to mean that the team is going to give him a very real chance to play in the NHL. That’s why it is a head scratcher.

My only gripe on the signings are if they take opportunity away from our Ahl guys.

I would rather see Gawdwin re-uped and guys like Phillips, Ruzika and Pelltier given a chance to play.

For those who don't know the rules

One way is about his salary only...him and his cap can still go to the AHL. He will likely be one of the Heats better defenders and one or two of them will be in Calgary this season.

One thing for sure, lack of truculence won’t be a problem.
