Despite Burke in Pittsburgh I don’t think they’re going for a player of Gaudreau’s ilk. No doubt he’d help them but they have a similar stature player in Kapanen already. Not nearly as good but in size you can probably have so many of the small guys on a team. I have my doubts.

If Gaudreau's camp put an $11 MM demand in front of the flames, then it's not about going closer to home IMO.

Combined with the terrible reffing in the league and the no-hit, no-fight mentality, it's been pretty dull.

A player like Gaudreau is my last lifeline to this league. If he is gone, i'm not watching.

I empathize with those sentiments. I've mostly lost interest in the NHL game the last few years and Johnny's play has been the main source of excitement in watching the Flames. If he's gone, I don't have much interest to watch next season either.

Lindblom buyout gives Philly ~$3M in space. Teams can go over the cap by 10% right now. Philly can spend up to ~$11M tomorrow.

Flames have already made a massive offer according to sources. This isn't like the Landeskog deal where the Avs low-balled him until the last minute. Big money has been on the table for some time now.

Pittsburgh would’ve had a better shot at Gaudreau if they hadn’t re-signed Rackell.

I would think they’d love to replace Malkin with a guy who actually plays 82 games a year.

Why? You are reading way too much into that. They still have their own free agents to sign, they were always going to do this buyout.
