I still think there is a good chance Bread gets an offer sheet which would be intriguing depending on the dollar figure. I like the player but just can’t see him repeating the goal scoring pace of last season.

If Johnny goes, and Tkachuk re-ups for only one year, the Flames should just go get themselves Patrick Kane as part of the Hawks' fire sale.
Basically go all in on expiring contracts and, if it doesn't work, have a fire sale of their own at the deadline and load up on 2023 first rounders.

Why would it cost anything? There are a number of teams that would love to trade for Lucic after his bonus is paid out. 1 million salary (not much more than a minimum deal) remaining after that. I am betting there would be a few teams that would love that deal. Few that Lucic would waive for.
However, I think there could be a fit in Anaheim. Usually a cash-strapped team, but they are also not competing this year so the cap hit isn't an issue, plus he could protect Zegras and the rest of their high end talented kids.
Flames could at least give Lucic away for free in certain cases - maybe even have a lower round pick in return. Just a question as to which team Lucic would waive for - Anaheim might be a nice team to play for if a contender can't (or won't) fit him in. Might be a couple of more good landing spots for him too that aren't Arizona or some other graveyard that he wouldn't waive for.

Saw a rumour (NHL News Updates on Facebook) being circulated by a Chicago insider that Patrick Kane will be requesting a trade from Chicago when free agency opens. Apparently his top destination is NY Rangers.

"Yeah, sure Evander, if Johnny doesn't re-sign, we'll give you $6 million per year..." -- Oilers immediately sign him for $6.5 million.

I doubt they have the draft capital to swing that deal, and even more doubtful Kane will waive to come here.
Rumour has him wanting to go to the NYR.

Makes sense, he's not getting 8 years, see what else is out there.

Looking at some reactions from Ducks fans, seems like quite a few of them are happy. He's atrocious defensively, and has high end offensive skills but not necessarily the sense to go with it all the time.

With general lack of cap space for most teams, and the paltry amount of offer sheets, it's unlikely strictly based on odds.

I think they cannot afford Malkin, which seems to imply they definitely cannot afford Johnny.

More likely Kadri would be my guess. Burke loves him

After looking at their depth chart, I agree. They’ve got $15M in space with 18 players signed, but they need a 2nd line centre, not another winger.
